The Internet has been abuzz lately with word of a reprint of ROM 1 in September 2023 and an Omnibus Edition collecting ROM 1-29 and Power Man/Iron Fist 73 in January 2024.
Very interesting. This news makes me wonder if Hasbro is pondering a relaunch of the action figure. I mean, if I was a Hasbro exec and I wanted to dust off this IP, the first thing I'd do is talk to Marvel about reprinting the old comics. It feels like it'd be an easy step and a good way to generate buzz.

I think IDW had been publishing a "Rom" comic.
But now...
"In May 2023, it was revealed that Marvel has renewed their license with Hasbro in order to publish the character of Rom once again. While a new series has yet to be revealed; a facsimile edition reprinting issue #1 will release in September 2023 as well as “Classic Years” Marvel Omnibus Volume 1 to commemorate the occasion; which is currently slated to be released in January of 2024."
Yeah, but aside from their TMNT books, IDW largely seems to fly under the radar. But you get some old rare Marvel comics back into circulation? That’ll get some buzz going, and provide a ready environment for a new ROM toy.
And I can certainly see a concept like ROM with modern toy technology behind it being very interesting in a way the original apparently struggled to be. I’ll be very curious to see what happens with the character from here. It feels like a prime chance for a revival.

Gimme gimme ROM Clix.
You can see my friend's amazing work at customizing a 100 points generic Spaceknight dial into ol' Buckethead in my photo album.
I’ll be honest, I’m certainly curious about the possibility of ROM making it into a Marvel Legends line. But I looked up the original toy, how it focused on light and sound features that changed depending on the weapon you slotted into his hand, and I just imagine how much cooler that could be with 2023 tech.

And now, besides ROM, the Micronauts will have an Omnibus released.
Nothing was said about a new series for the Micronauts, just the Omnibus release coming up soon-ish.
