10 attack on the back end of the dial not hitting much. He becomes a force blast piece for 60 points. What is with all the wording on his stop click? He destroys blocking anyway. Sounds confusing. Not sold on this Scott.
W/L: 1-2 Chilly Cyclops is a mixed bag of good and bad. First the good - 6 range is nice in this day and age allowing him to snipe and stay out of range from all those short range attackers and 4-range PCers. Shooting through a square of blocking is a nice option, too, especially in the closer maps WK has been producing and is hugely important in a world of free Barrier and placing of blocking terrain. Penetrating Damage is always welcomed, too, and I will always love Force Blast when combined with anything else (HATE IT as a standard power in the movement slot). A full dial of Leadership is great, too. So what keeps Cyclops from being a part of your local venue teams and relegated to your home with friends only? Two things: A) below average defense - 17 Toughness means only bad dice prevent him from taking damage. B) 60 points - Scott is at least 10 points too expensive given his low-hanging fruit defense. 50, I'd consider him, but getting easily hit and landing on those awful FB clicks reduces his role to a leader/medic and 60 points is ALOT for that role. As I have mentioned previously, in an age of Visible Dials, design cannot make dials with blatant weaknesses if they want people to purchase their product and Cyclops is just one more reason I bypassed purchasing yet another WK set in bulk.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
It's true his defense is not hard to hit. But it's also true that he can shoot you through a wall before you can get to him. Map doesn't have walls? Ever the tactician, Cyke married smart. Bring along Jean and let her make him walls and enhance his damage to 4. Marriage is about reciprocity, and he can heal her in turn with Support when she goes for her big Mind Control trick. He's got the usual Cyclops damage dealing and Leadership capabilities, but his ability to shoot through walls, reposition himself and his opponents with his SP movement power, heal his team and his "I want this thing off my lawn" finale all make him well worth his moderate 60 point cost.
Pair him up with chase Wolverine from WOV. Cyke can use support for free because of the vehicle keyword and Wolvie can bring Blocking Terrain markers for Cykes to shoot through. Plus style points given to the leather jacket duo.
