I've searched the forums and this seems to be a topic beaten to death however, I didn't find a consensus answer for a very simple question.

If Doom is attacked and masterminds his damage to someone with Mystics does that person with Mystics return the damage to the person attacking Doom?

I can see either side of the argument - I guess the main question is the mystics taking damage from an attack or taking damage from a redirection of an attack.

read the "how to beat galactus" article. mastermind vs. mystics is discussed a lot and the general consensus came to this: you cannot mastermind mystic damage.

From the General FAQ:

When a character with Mastermind deals damage to a friendly adjacent character, that damage is not considered an attack, and powers and team abilities that require a character be hit or dealt damage “by an attack” or “from an attack” do not function against damage dealt through Mastermind.

Translated, no, a Mystic can not retaliate if it has damage MM'd to it.

And while that may be what you believe the general consensus was, that would be an incorrect ruling. It's already been ruled by the Rules Arbitrator that Mystics retaliation damage can be MMed. Mystics deals damage which is enough to activate MM. And MM neither reduces nor evades (evades is Super Senses.) So Mystics damage can be MMed.
