Transporters and Fliers w/ earthbound, can they be carried?
I would hope the answer is yes, because earthbound states that they are considered to have the boot symbol. And since people with the boot symbol can be carried.....
Earthbound would be like Black Knights mechanical horse being blown up, so he would just be a normal(well, normal if guys walk around with swords and armor on)guy walking on the ground. Let me know what you guys think and if anyone knows the answer.
Thanks,
Mike
Im not sure if you could pick up double bases with earthbound...because they are still double bases, just not transporters.
Im not 100% though.
Actually, the weird thing is you can carry a double based figure. If you check the rules for transporters and doubled based figures, you'll find that transporters can't be carried, but nothing says they can't be TK'd, and double based figures can't be TK'd, but nothing says they can't be carried. Right now, since all the double based figures are transporters (and vice versa) that means figures like Lockjaw normally can't be carried *or* TK'd.
However, during special cases, like when Hawkeye and Black Knight gain Earthbound or when Crosswinds is in play, some of the Transporters gain the normal boot symbol. Since they gain the normal boot, and not the Transporter boot like Lockjaw, they still can't be TK'd (since they are doubled based figures), but they can be carried (since they are no longer transporters).
From the Fantastic Forces Rules insert on Double-Based Characters:
Double-base characters may not be moved by Telekinesis, and they cannot be knocked back.
Notice nothing is said about being carried. If it doesn't say it *can't* be done, then you can probably do it.
From the Fantastic Forces Rules insert on Tranporters:
Transporters may not be carried by characters with the [Wing Symbol] speed mode.
So here is what normally prevents tranporters from being carried. However Tranporters that gain Earthbound are no longer Transporters. From the General FAQ:
A transporter that gains Earthbound gains the standard boot type speed symbol. It is not a transporter when it has a standard speed symbol.
Although I believe the Icons rules will say that neither double-based figures nor transporters may be carried.
You are correct, although it is kind of hidden. Nothing is mentioned about Double-based figures not being carried in the Double-based figure discussion (page 30 of Icons rule book), but there is a note about it under the Carrying Other Characters section (page 18).
From the Icons rule book:
Flying characters, double base characters, transporters, giant characters, and big
characters cannot be carried.
So if you jump right to the double-based section, you might think that they can still be carried, perhaps leading to some confusion. However, this little statement on page 18 is pretty darn clear (you just have to find it).
Remember, though, that Icons doesn't go into effect until later in September (the 21st, I believe). So in the mean time, you can carry Black Knight or Hawkeye (or even Moonstar with Crosswinds using a figure with Passenger or another Transporter like Lockjaw) when they gain Earthbound.
Even Earthbound Blacknight cannot be carried b/c he has the transporter boot symbol.
Remember that transporters have the inverted logo and therefore even though he gets the boot symbol he is still a transporter. So he should be able to carry a figure, except grounded rules would apply.
I guess its like saying that Lockjaw could be carried b/c he has the boot symbol. Its not the case b/c of the inverted boot causing him to be a transporter

You complete missed the quote from the FAQ, didn't you...
From the General FAQ (again):

sorry, maybe I should be more careful when I haven't memorized the FAQ.

I didn't mean to imply that you should have the FAQ memorized. What I meant was that I had already addressed this issue and post the relevant FAQ entry up in post number 3.
