Okay, So I'm sure I spelled his last name wrong, but can someone tell me where he's been the last almost decade?
I sort-of liked his cover on the new MoM reprint, but I LOVED his work way back (I think like, 8 yrs ago) on Uncanny X-Men. I'm pretty sure he went, at some point, to an Indy label/book(?) to draw that, but I didn't like it b/c it wasn't a monthly, & I can't stand that $#it of waiting for a book to come out & not knowing when it will (or if: Q's Daredevil: Father )
So if someone could please tell me, I'd appreciate it, and I won't have to post this same thread on the DC page
It's a good thing you didn't try reading Battle Chasers because it never finished and "ended" on issue eight after 2 years or something like that.
His next project is actually pretty big, he and Jeph Loeb will be writing Ultimates for a little while which might turn out really well. I know I'll give at least the first issue a shot, hopefully it won't ship as slow as his last comic.
I hope that someday he'll finish Battle Chasers. I collected the book and thought it was pretty good - even if we had to wait 5 months between issues.

Oh man, Loeb is my FAV writer in the WORLD (well, the known world)
Anyway, that will be a great pair!!!
Does anyone know which book he'll be doing/ who he's drawing?
Also, how DO you spell his last name?
Not sure about the spelling of his last name, so I'll just refer to him as Mad. Anyway, as JGonspy said, Mad is working on Ultimates 3, which Jeph Loeb is writing. The new Wizard showed some preliminary sketches by Mad of the Ultimates, and I must say I was impressed. He seems to be toning down the manga-influence his older style had, bringing it a little closer to Hitch's ultra-realistic style, without getting too close to be called a rehash or copy. I'm actually looking forward to Ultimates 3. The jury's still out on Loeb's writing for the title, but I'm an Ultimate ##### so I'll be getting every issue (unless it REALLY sucks, but I doubt that).

I disagree. He and J. Scott can take a flying leap for all I care.
What are they up to? Who cares? Dollar 0 of mine will be heading their way unless they have an Editor that delivers them a few swift kicks to the groin.
Creator-controlled sounded like such a good idea. Then you realize, like everything else entertainment related, its all about collaboration...
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
I don't think it's a relaunch, just how the title itself is going to be structured, most likely taking place a year or after whenever the current arc ends. The Ultimates were always supposed to be a little more realistic, and threats that require their level of power don't show up every few weeks.
I have to agree with your disappointment. I am fastly becoming un-enamored with Loeb's stuff. And Madureira is a horrible fit to "Ultimates". I love his art, but it doesn't belong on this title. He is much too unrealistic to be doing what, in my opinion, is supposed to be a more realistic take on the Avengers. And I am using the term "realistic" very loosely here. My top picks for the art chores would have fallen to Gary Frank, Maleev, van Scivier(sp? the Rebirth guy), or Cassidy.
I do wish Madureira would come back to regular comic work, just not on this title.

Amen. Loved all the older Batman minis (Long Halloween, Dark Victory) but have not been a fan of anything he has touched since then. Some people have a few good stories in them, I feel this may be the case for Loeb. Everything he's done since then has either followed the same pattern or been lame. Sometimes both.
Well, I just read the new Wizard and saw some previews for the art. I think I will have to retract, because it looks sweet. I didn't know about Loeb's son recently dying, that surely has affected his work. I will definitely give this series a try.
