I am sure this has come up before but I couldn't find any reference to it so here goes.
Atlas = X
Baron Zemo = Y
Giant Figure Adjacency = U

I know that standard figures do not block lines of fire to and from giant figures so you can attack Atlas with a ranged attack instead of Baron Zemo, BUT I want to know if you can attack Baron Zemo? Do you have to attack Atlas because he is the giant figure? I was told that because Atlas is the giant figure and the standard figure doesn't block line of fire, you have to attack Atlas first because he is the figure the ranged attack would first come in contact with.

Thanks for the help in advance.
No. As Atlas isn't blocking LOF to Zemo, you can attack either one. Just because you have LOF to something doesn't mean you are forced to attack it. Let's put it into perspective with a hypothetical.
Question: If three were four standard figures all within 10 squares of the edge of a building, and Nimrod was standing on the edge of the building with clear LOF to all four, which figures could he attack? Answer: Any of them. In fact, Nimrod could choose to not attack any of them, simply Outwitting something and waiting for the figures to come within Pulse Wave range.
The *only* thing in this game that dicates which figures *must* be attacked is the Taunt Feat. And even that allows some flexibility as to when you attack (i.e. the Taunted figure doesn't have to act first in turn, other actions may occur first, and if the Taunting figure is KO'd in the meantime, the Taunted figure may act in anyway you choose).
