erm....would models with the Cosmic Power TA take full pulsewave damage??
eg...4 damage from Nimrod's pulsewave....ignoring Impervious?
BTW, what powers are Cosmic Powers TA immune to?
outwit, Exploit Weakness, Psychic Blast...anymore?
Power Cosmic prevents their powers from being countered, not ignored. In Heroclix lingo, there is a *huge* difference between the two.
As such, Power Cosmic has never prevented the use of Psychic Blast and Exploit Weakness (anyone who tells you different is either confusing Power Cosmic in general with specific Galactus rules or lying). It also has never worked against Pulse Wave; PW not only ignores powers, it ignores team abilites, too. So when, say Nimrod, uses PW, the PW doesn't even notice that Power Cosmic is there (much less Impervious or any other powers).
At the moment, barring a change in wording of current powers/abilites/feats or the introduction of new powers/abilites/feats, the only way to counter powers is with Outwit. Essentially, Power Cosmic (and Quintessence for that matter) grants its characters Willpower and immunity to Outwit.
Actually, the term "countered" now applies to one other thing as well. The Ambush feat card specifies that " After the attack resolves, the character's Stealth is countered until the beginning of your next turn."
At the moment, there are no figures with both Stealth and the PC/Q TA. If such a character is made, I'm not sure how the interaction would work. The reasonable assumption is that they can use Ambush without losing Stealth... Another option is a FAQ entry that states Ambush may not be assigned to such a character. Who knows?

Good catch there, Quebbster. I actually haven't had a chance to play since Collateral Damage came out (what with real life and judging responsibilites) and I really have given the cards only a casual look to make sure I have a rough idea of what they do. The specific wording on Ambush escaped me; I had just assumed it would be 'canceled', not 'countered'... and you know what they say about assumptions...
Given that Ambush does specify "counter", at the moment I'd say that if a PC/Quint character did receive Stealth, it could use Ambush without losing its Stealth power. Since that seems to be a pretty potent combo, though, it also would surprise me if this hypothetical Stealthed PC/Quint character caused the errata entry you eluded to... they did for Shellhead, after all.

You'd think I'd know by now to proof my posts a little more carefully :disappoin

just pndering here....I wonder if Ambush Feat on a Power Cosmic would interact like a character with Super Strength and Close Combat Expert in the rules prior to Icons.
Since CCE is an optional power and SS was being used to hold an object, if the character wanted to make an attack in close combat it had to turn off the 'optional' CCE power and was force to use the Object in Close combat{not sure how this mumbo jumbo is all worded with icons rules}
I think all team abilities are OPtional...thus I would surmise that to use the Ambush Feat and its prerequisites, the character would have to turn off the Power cosmic TA to fulfil the requirements of the feat.
that would be consistent with pre-icons rulings {and maybe current too, but I am not up to date on every detail like I used to be before Pyslockslover was head rules guru.... I miss the days of HeroComplex, Tsannik and Canada Maestro!!!....is Heroclix1234 still around on the wizkids site?}
my last post was not a knock on you or your predessor Pyslockslover {I was his 10th minion!!},
It is that back in the day there was 3 or 4 regular rules gurus and 3 or 4 quality back ups....
then the rules were 'written clearer' and now almost all rules queries involve the semantics of the Heroclix Dictionary and the constant redundant formula to answer these questions seems to have taken it toll on the rules forum so that there is rarely more than 1 rules guru active at a time....this time is Normalview reign....I do hope there will always be at least 1 guru though...you guys are neccessary to new and old players alike
If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that the most likely outcome would be an errata to the Ambush feat to change "countered" to "cancelled". That, to me, isa the most logical and simplest change to make.
And thanks for the props AH. Truth be told, it was a real-life thing that kept me out of the rules forum for a while. Then, when I came back, NV had things well in hand answering questions, so I wasn't in a big hurry.
Though I have been slowly posting more and more recently.....

And we are quite glad to have you back posting regularly again!
You, HC1234, and hair were the guys that got me interested in all these fancy "rules", as you call them
my last post was not a knock on you or your predessor Pyslockslover {I was his 10th minion!!},
And I did not take it as a knock or any other negative way. It was a simple discussion over a hypothetical situation. At this point it is entirely academic and your idea has just as much merit as mine (or anyone else's).
Oh, and thanks for the props. I don't know if I'd ever call it a 'reign', especially not with other equally capable personalities posting, but I am glad to see that I have made some kind of (hopefully) positive impression
