Well, of course. They finally show a character that will make this set worth even bothering with and he's a unique. So far this set has been a complete snore for me as none of the characters are ones that I would put on a team. I don't mean powers wise. I'm one of those players that never wins at tournamets because I prefer to make teams that I know. I am really hoping that something better comes out from this set or I will ahve to skip it for the ebay sales of singles. C'mon someone a bit more top teir than Electro or Jack O'lantern. I know that there are increasingly fewer MAJOR characters left to make but I thought the idea of the sneak peeks were to make us go "OOOooooh" and "Aaaaaahhh" not to scramble for the Whoclix page or one fo the old Marvel Universe books.
You mean Madrox isn't well known? If his solo book isn't enough publicity, he's about to be in X3. And you don't know Electro? The two Wednesday previews have been pretty big name, if you ask me. Granted, not A-list greats, but popular and well known in their own rights.
Isn't it about time we had a foil to Ultimates? I want my B-listers! And this set is delivering!
I think this peice rocks and is a great secondary attack for his points. Energy explosion and outwit is a great combo. You got to remeber he was one of the few people that could turn off your powers. So outwit realy works for him. Forceblast works well for him. I thint that he shoudl have started with damage reducers.
I can't really argue with the powers on his dial, or the stats for the most part. But I can't really see the value in this character - 82 points is too much to spend on a single support piece, and his AV and Damage are too low to really be an effective secondary attacker. Even with perplex on his dial, his AV is an 8 or 7, so he'll need to use the Perplex on his AV, over his damage, most of the time. Feats can make him better, but his cost when all is said and done would be better spent on other figures.
On top of all that, even if you want to use him as an attacker (2 damage is respectable, if not awe-inspiring), his defense numbers are weak, and with no damage reducers or stealth to back them up, he's a huge target that's easy to hit and deal damage to. Even getting him into range to use his Outwit is risky. I think some stealth or at least some ES/D would be justified, since he's always got some trick up his sleeve.
Awesome sculpt, suitable dial, but just not looking all that playable.
One of my favorite things.... people deeming a piece useless or uncompetitive before they've even played it. People weren't impressed with Longshot before MM came out either and look at him now....
He's a mediocre, too expensive figure who is worse then Destiny, Scarlet Witch, Black Cat or probably even Domino at performing his primary purpose which is PC.

All of the pieces used in your example were from IC - Bullseye, Black Panther and Vulture - all of which many people have argued are clearly undercosted for what they do.
I was responding to the following, "every character should be designed with every facet of the game in mind". The figures I used in my comparison are facets of the game.

The point is, comparing pieces from IC to pieces from Sinister
He is trash compared to figures from Legacy ... trash compared to year old figures. You don't have to go back to IC. He is trash compared to Seth's other trash. It's like comparing a banana peel to a dirty diaper
Feat cards are all over this game like Oprah on a Twinkie. More then 1/2 the posts here are spouting about BT and ICwO on an already overcosted figure. He sucks. Get over it, it's nothing personal he just isn't a competitive piece in relation to other pieces. I went through the same argument with Shaman. He also sucks. And isn't a competitive piece. I don't hate him either but he sucks. What competes is efficient long dial figures slathered in cardboard. Like it or not ... I'm not making it up. Look at WWLA -a total of- THREE Seth figures. 2 veteran HIVE Dudes and one Emerald Empress who was slathered in feat cards to make her competitive. Mysteriously Shaman who people told me time and time again was a groudbreaking competitive figure failed to make an appearance. Why can't people seperate competitive with theme play. Forge is not a competitive figure. If you like Forge then Forge might be fun on a theme team.

I am surprised that you seem to think Emerald Empress is not good. The way you typed that sentence it seems like you think she's bad figure. I think she's great. Is it because she's still too expensive compared to LE Polaris, or something else? I believe the 10AV and wildcard TA is worth the 20 or so points more expensive.
How did Forge only rate a single version, when CAGE'S WIFE rates a full REV?
Because Jessica has a current title, and Forge hasn't been seen in ages. As much as I've always liked Forge, I always expected him to be a Unique when he finally made a Heroclix appearance. That being said, I also expected Ms. Marvel/Binary/Warbird to be an R/E/V. You never know what these crazy game designers are going to do.

But the mantra long before Seth took over was that a small percentage of figures in the game were competitive. We saw at most half a dozen figures from most JonL sets represented on those WW teams, save for Fantastic Forces. Three sets are retiring this summer. Even with that, only a handful of "competitive" attackers (and the Pit Crew) will be removed from the big tournaments, including one that fell out of favor long ago, Thor. As far as I can tell, Seth is only about 2-3 figures short per set of matching JonL's number of competitive figures per set. But would that really make anyone feel better?
I acknowledge retirement isn't in play in many places, but the litmus test we can use to agree about what is competitive will still be those WW tournaments. And there's fewer tests now that the pre-releases have been restructured and the constructed portion is presumably out.
