Hey guys.
I'm trying to put together a Multiple man team of 300pts.
What I got is...
3 x Rookie
2 x Exp.
3 x Vet.
Now this leaves 53 points to spend.
Can anyone suggest what I can spend the remaining points on that'll make this team good? And something X-men-y TO FIT THE THEME WOULD BE GOOD, BUT NOT A MUST.
I'd probably remove 2 of the Veterans - Mastermind is tricky to use without plenty of fodder, and you don't want to kill off all the clones immediately. Keep one though - Outwit is always handy.
That gives:
R Multiple Man (17 p) x 3 = 51 points
E Multiple Man (32 p) x 2 = 64 points
V Madrox 44 points
That's 159 points.
As for the rest of the points, an X-factor themed team would probably work nicely. V Havok would definitely be a good idea - he is a solid ranged attacker, and his starting Leadership helps the Multiple Men get into position quickly. At 44 points, that brings the team to 203 points.
One version of Polaris is probably a good idea as well - TK and flight is always useful, and she can be a capable attacker as well. She's 50 or 76 points, depending on whether you go with the Rookie or Veteran, which brings the team to either 253 or 279 points.
Finally, I'd add the Veteran Wolfsbane, to get a healing battery and potential suicide attacker - the idea is to keep her next to Polaris and absorb Polaris' push damage, and then be TKed out and perform a BCF attack. She costs 39 points, so with the Rookie Polaris the team ends up at 292 points - just enough for a Protected for either Havok or Madrox.
So, the team as a list:
R Polaris 50
V Havok 44
V Madrox 44
V Wolfsbane 39
E Multiple Man 32
E Multiple Man 32
R Multiple Man 17
R Multiple Man 17
R Multiple Man 17
9 figures on a 300 point team should mean plenty of options...
- just enough for a Protected for either Havok or Madrox.
i would stick it on madrox for theme reason he just makes another multiple and it takes the shot instead i really try to never put protected on somedy who does not have a good reason for it say iron man repulser shields heralds power cosmic cap his shield and so on and so on and i would still stick it on madrox anyway cause i don't think you would want him to die.
44 V Havok
10 Armor Piericing (Havok)
10 Extended Range (Havok)
76 V Polaris
10 Force Field (Polaris)
32 E Wolfsbane
32 E Multiple Man
32 E Multiple Man
17 R Multiple Man
17 R Multiple Man
17 R Multiple Man
297 total
So, V Havok has AP and Extended range so he can hit farther away with EE if need be, or he can sit and blast closer with 4 damage. V Polaris can push to move everyone into place, get healed by Wolfsbane, then move up and push to attack and have Wolfsbane heal again, dropping her on her best click. E Multiple man is my hero. Perplex then eventually push to CCE for clean up. R Multiple man for tie up and clean up duty. Not a bad group for a theme team.
"Come on Hulk! Where's the old boasting? The battle cries? Why aren't you bellowing about how you're 'the strongest one there is'? Could it be because... you know it's not true?"
"No. Because it's just too obvious."

For those extra 53 points, I would personally add E. Havok, BT Moira MacTaggart, and a 10 point Feat of your choosing to round out the squad.
Here is one other simple Madrox swarm idea:
V. Madrox = 44
E. Multiple Man = 32
E. Multiple Man = 32
E. Multiple Man = 32
R. Multiple Man = 17
R. Multiple Man = 17
BT Jamie Madrox = 7
BT Jamie Madrox = 7
+
R. Polaris = 50
E. Havok = 38
E. Quicksilver (IC) = 24
Total = 300
I like using the E. Havok in this case over his Veteran counterpart because he is a Free-Moving Flier so he allows you to position 2 extra figs between his carrying and the Action you saved.
Quicksilver can move for free as well; Polaris can carry as well.
Vet. Havok does provide Leadership, but that is only one potential extra Action, whereas E. Havok guarantees extra moves in the positioning phase (the most important phase for this team).
I can't wait to run Madrox swarms...
