MODOK floated with a sneer, unable to resist the urge to gloat. "Yesss... I can see the comprehension forming in your miniscule brain. You begin to understand just what it is that you walked so brazenly into... The much-vaunted Iron Man was nothing before me! Now... Who will avenge the Avengers?" He broke off into cackling laughter, and gave the signal for his men to open fire on the hapless hero.
Turn 10, Player 2:
1) Dreadnought #2 pushes to Breakaway. Roll is 5, he'll move to K-19. 1 push damage.
Free) MODOK will Outwit Simon's Toughness.
2) AIM Agent #2 pushes to fire on Simon. 8 (+1 Hydra) to a 13 (+1 Hindering). 2 + 4, hit for 2 damage. 1 push damage.
3) AIM Agent #1 will fire on Simon. 8 (+1 Hydra) to a 12 (+1 Hindering). 5 + 3, hit for 2 damage and the KO.
The cream of the Avengers West was down, victims of Iron Man's headstrong attack and AIM's might.
MODOK settled down in to the back of one of the trucks containing the pirated targeting software. It sent a psychic message to two AIM henchmen not yet onboard. Kill them and then head to the agreed location to pick up payment from our client.
The trucks drove off, and the AIM henchmen readied their weapons.
"Shame we don't have more time," said the first goon, leering at Wanda, "i'd have liked to have dallied with the pretty one first."
"Let's just get this done already, this place is filthy," replied his associate, brushing at his sleeve. Suddenly he began brushing frantically. "This isn't dirt, it's ants! Hundreds of them, get them off me!"
"Let me help you," said Tigra, leaping from the shadows and knocking the frantic man out with a kick.
The other henchman turned and made to fire at her, just as an arrow went down the barrel of the gun, causing it to explode and injure his arm. He craddled the injury, sobbing slightly.
Tigra, Hawkeye and Ant-man awakened their downed comrades.
Tony was glad the helmet disguised his features, his face burned red and hot with the shame of it all. With a snarl he grabbed up the wounded henchman.
"Where did they take the parts?" he demanded of the man, shaking him violently.
"I will tell you nothing," replied the man.
Iron Man placed his hand over the man's face. "what do you think my repulsors will do to your head from this range? TELL ME WHERE THEY TOOK THEM!"
The man began to tremble. Tigra took a step forward but Hawkeye stopped her with a shake of his head.
"Hhh...Hammer,...Justin Hammer," stammered the man.
"Hammer," said Iron Man, his armored glove turning in to an iron fist.

that training match helped a great deal with respect to TAPs; i'm pleased
- Since Mike Dropped his build total down to the 200 level, is the editor forced to respond, or does he still build as if Mike was going with his maximum allowance (a handicapped match of sorts)?

I can only speak for myself (and I'm fairly sure DK does the same), the DC side might do it differetly (I wouldn't want to speak for them), but I build the villains to face submitted squad I get. So if the AWC submitted a 150 pt when they have a 200 build total I'd build a villain force to match-up against the 150.
Alternetly if a player feels they are really in dire straints they can use this option...............

If members of your squad are wounded (see below) and you can’t take them out of your squad, or if you just want a break, you can choose to fight enemies with a point value equal to half of your squad’s point value. You must declare that you are doing this when you tell the GM what your squad will be for that mission, so that the GM can create a scenario accordingly.
To the best of my knowledge it's never been used, but the option is there. :shrug:

I made a promise to Matt Murdock to wear his mask....I've fought this war in his place.....And I'll continue to do so.
But I haven't forgotten who I am...and soon it will be time to carry my own burdens again.
In light of the injuries sustained against MODOK and AIM, i've decided to go with the following squad for issue #12:
LE Ant-Man 43
R Tigra 40
R Hawkeye* (Ultimates) 40
V Scarlet Witch (Infinity Challenge) (-1) 40
* with Trick Shot 20
==> 183 points
Hopefully, this jives sufficiently with the editors' ideas.
Don't forget your guest roll Mike.
You might not be inclined to bring in another of your figs in..................but you could look into 'renting' one of your soon-to-be-recruits if the option presents itself and you were so inclined. Could be an interesting way to have them meet your team.

why, thank you, DM, for reminding me about the guest roll! and it is a.... 6!
Cool; the first guest roll i've made so far!
Now, whom shall i choose?... May i modify the squad i've selected so far in light of the successful guest roll? I presume yes.
So if i selected Sersi (a 76-point Unique), she would cost me 38 TAPs (not TXPs, right?), and if i selected R Mockingbird (19 points), would she cost me 9 or 10 TAPs?

No problem, it's what I do.

Of course.

Here's the part in the rules...........

If the result is a “6,” you may add one more hero to your squad. You can add another hero from your team for free, or you can “rent” a hero that is not part of your team (provided they are also not a part of someone else’s team as well). This hero will cost TAP (not TXP) equal to half his point value. If that hero’s current version has the team ability of the team renting him, he is considered a reservist for that team, and only costs one-fourth his build total. (ie: The Avengers rolled a 6 before Issue #2, and they decided to rent the Vision rather than adding another Avenger, the Vision, a 122 point character, would cost 31 TAP to rent. However, if the X-Men decided to rent Exp. Firelord, an 81 point character, it would cost them 41 points, since Firelord is not an X-Man). If you fail the roll in the second issue of the arc, you may roll again in the third issue, and a 5 or a 6 will be a successful roll.
You'll have to excuse the mistake in reguards to Visions pt cost(should be 112 pts), it's a carry-over.
You're right, it's TAP not TXP.
So U Sersi, whos current level(and only as she's a unique) is an Avenger, would only cost 1/4 in TAP(19-TAP).
Rk Mockingbird who is a Shield affiliate right now would cost half in TAP(10-TAP).

Alright; thanks to my first successful guest roll, i'd like play the following squad in WCA #12:
LE Ant-Man 43
R Tigra 40
R Hawkeye* (Ultimates) 40
R Scarlet Witch (Fant. Forces) (-1) 35
R Mockingbird 19
* with Trick Shot 20
==> 197 points
I understand this costs me 10 TAPs, since her Rookie has the SHIELD TA and she's not yet on my team.
I plan to recruit Mockingbird after this arc, anyway.
