Ok so I'm a huge fan of Kirby's Fourth World (got all the Forever People, New Gods and Mister Miracle issues by the King) but I don't read so much DC and so, even if I know Darkseid and the New Gods have made several appearances in the DCU since (I've got Cosmic Odissey, parts of "Our Worlds at War", and Another Nail but that's all (not to forget Orion, Mr. Miracle and Big Barda in Kingdom Come of course)) and I recently purchased the Gates of Apokolips TPB wherein Darkseid and Orion battle to the death ... and Darkseid seems dead at the end ! Just wonder what happened after those issues and how did the Schemer resurrected (if he was truly dead of course). Thanx in advance.
It sounds like you were reading some of the Walt Simonson "Orion" issues...I cannot remember all the details of this great series, but IIRC Darkseid's death is similar to many mythological god-deaths.
i.e., he really is dead, it's just that those sorts of deaths don't stick/are part of a god-cycle.

Thanks a lot for the clarification, tidge; it was actually Walt Simonson's issues, I should have mentionned that.
The Walt Simonson Orion series was really quite good, and I especially recommend it for anyone that has read his run on Thor. I don't think that it sold particularly well (despite having a 3 or 4 year run?) so you can probably pick up issues in the $0.25 bins.

Yeah if I lived in the U.S., but here in France I'll have trouble finding it and the price may be expensive ... I've read a few Thor from Simonson and they were great, so if I can find some Orion issues in here you can bet I'll get them. Thanks again for the piece of advice, tidge.
It is revealed later in the Orion series that Darkseid faked his death so that Orion would lead him to the Anti-Life Equation (Which almost backfires, because Orion uses it to pretty much enslave everyone).

The Schemer doesn't disappoint me then ... Nor does his son .
