"Nobody does that ta me, d'ya hear me?! Nobody!" The muscular behemoth again used his favorite tactic: he raised both huge fists into the air and brought them down so that they produced a vicious shockwave of Rimborian plasteel. Both Saturn Girl and Live Wire were struck by shards and chunks of the roof, which threww them to the ground below.
Saved by her flight ring from an unpleasant landing, Saturn Girl had only barely regained her orientation when a speedy young man began raining punches down on her. He ran past and left the unconscious Legionnaire lying on the ground.

The six-armed youth ascended to the top of the structure with the remarkable speed of a huge spider. He immeidately saw Brainiac 5 and apparently recognized the Coluan genius. He rushed toward the green-skinned Legionnaire and struck him a crushing blow. "It would appear as though we've demonstrated which of us possesses the superior intellect -- at least in tactical terms, where it has mattered today!" Brainiac could not, however, hear the taunt.

"Unngh," grunted the six-armed youth as Shadow Lass' attack hit home. He tried his best to shrug it off and addressed Cosmic Boy, as the weakened Legionnaire flew towards him. "So, the leader of the vaunted Legion deigns to approach me?" taunted the six-armed youth. He apparently did not deem Cosmic Boy enough of a threat, for he continued to focus his attention at Tasmia.

( ouch. i'm sorry, Tanis. I like the Legion, i really do. You placed Wildfire in a tough position, sedning him out there alone like that. If you had sent him and Live Wire at the same time, maybe with Shadow Lass providing Defense, then .... well, you KOd four of the neo-legion underagers... thanks for the game, Tanis! you semed a little distracted, though... how many games are you playing simultaneously?!... )
yeah it was a really bad move putting Wildfire out there...I wasn't paying attention enough. For some reason I thought I was out of Electro's range...but even with 6, he still would've had range...
And really? Was me being distracted that noticeable? For some reason, all the games came at once...there was a break for like 3 weeks of no games and then all of a sudden the RPSC and Fantasy League games were put up at the same time...I was playing 3 RPSC games and 1 Fantasy game...it's kinda hard for me to say no when people ask me to villain for them. Those games AND being really busy at work made it real hard to post a good game...I think I lost every single of my games... It's hard to focus on good game play when you have people possibly watching over your back...oh well...it's alright...I just hope there aren't any real bad consequences... :O
But thanks for the game mike! You put up a really good fight...there were a lot of times when I should've pushed but didn't...and also not paying attention...especially with Rhino...didn't know he had charge for quite a while in his dial...doh! that and quake just killed me....
The air was filled with smoke, streaming in cones toward an ashen sky that was grey with soot and destruction. Between the Legion and the Rimborian Defense Corps, the battle had become epic in scope. Cosmic Boy collapsed onto a rooftop in exhaustion. His suit was torn and ripped in several places. He had suffered severe injuries, broken bones, possibly something internal, he guessed. His face was puffy and sore, his chest ached. The Legion had lost.
“We did it,” he coughed, the act of speaking bringing pain to his throat.
“Hey, Cos!” Wildfire said, landing near the fallen leader. One of his arms was missing, the armor automatically sealing itself off to contain the pure-energy form of the being inside. Few realized, but Wildfire had ceased to be a solid-matter being years ago. Now, he was bright, nebulous energy barely contained by his armor. It made him impossible to kill, but had effectively sealed him off from real human contact for a long time. Whenever he got too gruff or severe, Cosmic Boy always cut him extra slack.
With him were the rest of his strike-team, most in as bad a shape as their leader. Live Wire was helping Saturn Girl stand, and Shadow Lass wore a sling-like contraption that Brainiac 5 had devised in the field. They had all taken quite a beating - Cos was surprised Live Wire hadn’t lost his right arm after a blow he had taken. As it was, the shoulder was mangled, though the Legionnaire ignored the pain to help Imra, whose shredded costume narrowly preserved her modesty. These suits would definitely need an upgrade.
*Don’t try to speak,* Saturn Girl thought to him telepathically. *Your throat is damaged. I’ll transmit your thoughts to all of us.*
*Thanks, SG,* Cosmic Boy ‘thought.’ The whole process was strange, but he was quick to adapt. *How’d we do, Legion?*
“We’re beat to sprock,” Shadow Lass said. She apparently hadn’t been as lucky as Saturn Girl, and was now wearing her cape as a makeshift robe. Cos was starting to think the male members of that… that Legion of Super-Villains were intentionally targeting the girls’ costumes.
“But,” she continued, “Rimbor is saved.” They all shared tired, sore, but relieved smiles at that. Live Wire laughed out loud, and Wildfire hooted to the sky, shaking his remaining fist like a madman.
Brainiac 5 pressed on with his analysis. “It would appear that they were distracted by our very presence. Once we began our intervention, they broke formation and focused on our battle groups. It allowed the RDC to properly shield the planet and ward off further destruction. In the end, having effectively disgraced us on the galactic Holo-news, the enemy decided to simply flee.”
*Good. Great. And what’s more, our actions here bought time the Espionage Squad needed to reconnoiter their home-base.* Cosmic Boy was ready to pass out from the strain of the fight, and he could see the same in a couple of his teammates’ eyes. *Let’s get home, Legion. Preferably before the RDC decides that we’re part of the enemy.*
They boarded the Bouncing Boy, with Brainiac 5 placing the worst of them in med-sleds, and applying medkits to others before taking off for space and Legion World. With any luck, Violet and her team would have been able to crack open some of this case by the time they returned. If not, they were facing a single-minded, resolute enemy in an impregnable fortress. What they needed was a miracle, and most of them knew it.
Of course, when you’re a Coluan with a 12th-level intellect, you don’t believe in miracles. You make your own. He would have to chat with Shrinking Violet in person before the general assembly. Plans needed to be made.
