if Ultimate Iron Man had Extended Range, and i want to make him do an explosion attack, can i take ALL of his 4 damage away and add it to range for a range of 12, since explosion reduces damage to 1 anyway, OR, am i only permitted to take 3 damage away so that my base damage is 1?
also, are explosion attacks treated the same way as before, where if Iron Man had an Enhancer with him and did a dual target attack, would it be 4 damage per target (2 on 1st target, 2 splash on 2nd target-2 on 2nd target, 2 splash on 1st target)?
thx much!

The Rule of 3 in effect for Extended Range, so Iron Man can only increase his range by a maximum of 3.
As for EE and Enhancment, no they won't work together. In the PAC, EE has the characters damage value becomes 1 until the attack has been resolved. So you can't boost damage above 1 while using EE.

From the Marvel E&C:
Replace the text on the card with: “Before making a ranged combat attack, the character's range may be increased for the duration of the attack by a number of squares up to its unmodified damage value. For each square the range of an attack is increased, decrease the damage value by 1 (after all other modifiers and replacements) when resolving the attack. An attack using Incapacitate does not place any action tokens on the target.”
And from the Heroclix FAQ:
Q: How does Extended Range work with a single target Energy Explosion or Pulse Wave attack?
A: Range is increased based on the unmodified damage value. When the attack is made, the damage value is decreased. Since both Energy Explosion and Pulse Wave change the damage value to 1, any increases in range would reduce the damage value to 0. A single target Energy Explosion or Pulse Wave attack would effectively deal 0 damage if the range was increased at all using Extended Range.
Q: How does Extended Range work with a multiple target Energy Explosion attack?
A: Since the description of Energy Explosion states that the target is dealt damage equal to the number of times it is hit by an attack, it is possible to deal damage with Energy Explosion if the target character is hit multiple times with an Energy Explosion attack.

No. EE states that the damage value becomes 1 for the duration of the action. So, if you try and increase the damage value past 1 with Enhancement or SHIELD TA, it just becomes 1 again any way (since it stays 1 for the durtation). The only effective way to deal more damage is to use a multi-target EE attack with overlapping effects. In the case of overlapping effects, EE states that the damage is not tied to the damage value at all, but is instead equal to the number of overlapping effects. Your damage value could theoretically be 20... but if only 2 effects overlap, you'd only deal 2 damage.
Critical hits can also increase the damage, since they add to damage dealt (not damage value).
I agree with everything you posted being the current rulings and FAQ and Errata.
My issue with the EE and ER is that ER has similar wording to Nova Blast:
ER:
Before making a ranged combat attack, the character's range may be increased for the duration of the attack by a number of squares up to its unmodified damage value
Nova Blast:
When the charater uses Pulse Wave, its damage does not become 1 for the attack. Use the charaters unmodified damage value for the attack,.....
So both ER and Nova Blast use the unmodified damage value. This should mean that the printed Value is used.
Even if it doesn't mean that the timing is off some: EE doesn't reduce the damage value till the RCA begins. ER raises the Range Value PRIOR to the RCA Begining....which then doesn't jive with the PW FAQ below...
EE doesn't even use the 1 DAMAGE to determine how much damage the figure takes. It's determinded by how many times the figure is hit my the attack and splash....which is all damage dealt.
When they decided to Errata the card from Damage Dealt to Damage Value, for reason I can't remember anymore, they made it 100% compatible with EE. It's alway been compatible with MC and should be compatible with Incap, if not for the errata addition.
Extended Range was a great idea for card to help those with an 8 or less range to gain bit of an advantage...but no one uses it because it'e just not worth it for all the limitation imposed by the FAQ.
Both the FAQ entries you quote cannot be correct.
The second one is 100% correct:
Q: How does Extended Range work with a multiple target Energy Explosion attack?
A: Since the description of Energy Explosion states that the target is dealt damage equal to the number of times it is hit by an attack, it is possible to deal damage with Energy Explosion if the target character is hit multiple times with an Energy Explosion attack.
When it's a single target EE it doesn't change how the damage is dealt. Damage dealt in an EE has little and really nothing to with damage value.
The first FAQ entry is a bit inaccurate:
Quote
Q: How does Extended Range work with a single target Energy Explosion or Pulse Wave attack? (Are we talking about a Single target PW attack also...if so then the damage value does not goto 1 does it?)
A: Range is increased based on the unmodified damage value. (This part is correct.) When the attack is made, the damage value is decreased. (only on EE but the modifier was already used) Since both Energy Explosion and Pulse Wave change the damage value to 1, (For EE we've estiblished above that the damage value does not matter and on a single target PW damage values do not change at all) any increases in range would reduce the damage value to 0. (Not true for PW, irrelevant for EE) A single target Energy Explosion or Pulse Wave attack would effectively deal 0 damage if the range was increased at all using Extended Range. (just not true according to everything I know about EE and PW.)
A multi-target PW attack would/could be affected by the use of ER....but a single target attack is not. I think the parts about EE should be removed from this entry, as the one after it is correct and this one is not. And that the stipulation that a MULTI-target PW would act as described above.
To make matters better...a PWer with ER (ie Range of 8 or less) and Nova Blast could increase their range with ER After the reduction and still NB for thier FULL unmodifed damage, per the NB card.

A: The range increase from Extended Range is added after the range is halved for the Pulse Wave attack.
I sincerly hope this particular issue with ER, EE, PW and NB are resolved soon in the FAQ. The 2 FAQ entries you quote seem to say different things. Plus the timing for the range increase needs to be addressed.
And 8 range figure with NB and ER could have their Range reduced to 4 and raise to 6(with Darkness or deep shadows in play) or 7 and still hit for full damage.
TechGOD's Pulse Wave discussions are certainly one thing I'm not missing by not being on the Judge's forum.
I've NOT brought up "that yellow attack power" in the Judges forum since WWE.
I do miss you Hair10......I'm glad to see that your are still active in some way with Clix.
BTW: this thread was not really about "you know" but more about Extended Range and EE....I was just point out the inconsistancies with EE/ER/PW/NB with regards to the FAQ entries.

I have a couple of regrets about the way everything happened... one of those is not being able to access the judge's forum. Those were always some interesting threads and debates.
I have no intention of bailing out of clix or the clix community. Depending on how things go (with figs, sets, errors, quality, etc) WK may find that they like me a whole less now that I'm on this side of the fence.
