Quick question: If a figure is on clear terrain and already adjacent to elevated/blocking terrain, and takes knockback in the direction of the elevated/blocking terrain, does that figure take knockback damage?
My friend argues that a figure only takes damage if it is knocked back at least one square, then stopped by the elevated/blocking terrain, whereas I contend that it should take the damage even if is is already adjacent to the terrain, because the elevated/blocking terrain is still stopping the figure's movement.
Please tell me that I'm right and prove, once and for all, that my friend is clueless.
So even if a character does not move back a square because it is right next to blocking terrain....it will still take 1 point of damage? That seems to be contradictory.

It makes sense. even in comic terms: The character is smacked up against the wall for extra damage.
In rule terms: The squares they would be knocked back into are not open, so they take damage and don't go anywhere.
