Restricted: Only uses figures that aren't retired.
Unrestricted: You can play any pieces, retired or not.
Draft: You buy boosters and play from what you pull.
Unrestricted is what it says any figure you have can play just as the rules state.
Restricted means not using any of the figs from retired sets (someone will have to help you on which sets are retired I can never remember)
Sealed means you buy boosters (usually 1 / 100 points of build) at the tourny and make your team from what you draw.
Draft usually involves buying boosters like in sealed, but you only get to pick 1 fig from a booster and pass the other 3 to the next player, then he takes 1 and passes 2 , ect.
So in a draft, each player would buy 1 booster?
Also do you keep the figs. that were in your booster after the game is played?
It depends. In a Battle Royale Draft, each player buys one booster. However, you can also do a standard draft of multiple boosters, allowing for more options... and adhering to a set point total.
Usually, you keep the figs you draft and play as your team.

Unless your venue is doing generic gaming without WizKids prize support, you'll usually only see "casual play" used as the event description for New Guy Nights.
It should also be noted that in a Battle Royale draft, there is no consideration given to point totals for teams. If you happen to pull an over-costed figure that generally wouldn't see the light of day (Bizarro, Mongul), now's your chance to use him.

When I first played a Battle Royale, one of my opponents pulled a Count Nefaria. The rest of us just said "OK, you just won the match". And he did.
My first Battle Royale was at the FF Sneak Peek. I was having a blast all day. Then somebody pulled a Nimrod. I figured the right thing to do was go after him with my Power Man and best figures and send my small guys to hastle the flanks.
Unfortunately though 2 guys held back while 3 other guys all beat up on the guy with Nimrod.
I felt horrible because I lead the charge that basically stole all the fun from the Nimrod player and let the 2 guys who hung back get the win.
It was horrible, I knew I would lose when I rushed Nimrod, but I certainly did not want to steal his fun and thats what ended up happening as he went down way too quickly being triple teamed with noone else fighting one another until he was decimated.
I am not a real big fan of Battle Royales because they get kind of political and sometimes favor the guys ganging up or hanging back. But Imagine with the right gaming group of friends they could be fun.
My Appologies again Mr. Nimrod guy if you are out there.

Casual Play-New Guy Night. OK, that makes sense.
Am I wrong in thinking a constructed event is just a pre-determined scenario set up by the venue(does WK have anything to do w it)?
Also, at conventions(MS?)- Gen-Com...etc
1. Are there rankings, or something that determine if you get to play for those "big" prizes-or do you just pay to play?
2. Is a convention a place 4 a newb? or just asking 4 ridicule?
this thread has been extremly helpful-Thanx to all!
