for all you hulk readers
Q: hulk has not changed to banner during planet hulk has he? anyone know why?
They kind of touched on it in the story line that was in the Giant Sized Incredible Hulk issue. Normally you would see Hulk in Banner's mind, insulting Banner, trying to get Banner angry and let the Hulk out. In this issue it is the other way around You see Banner in Hulks mind, insulting and ridiculing Hulk, telling Hulk to let Banner out so that he can fix the ship and they can go the the "happy planet" they were supposed to end up on. I think that the Banner consciousness is doing this on purpose to make Hulk angry, or rather to make sure that he is always angry. Therefore Hulk can't revery back to Banner becasue he is too angry. I think that Banner realizes that this planet is so unbelievably harsh that only the Hulk could get them through it. So Banner is trying to influence the Hulk in that way so that they can survive.

That's an interesting theory. Though Banner did seem not only surprised but happy when he appeared to have taken control for an instant (before reverting back to the Hulk). If he wanted Hulk to stay in control I would think he'd be rather unhappy.

I think Hulk is just REALLY p****d off...all the time.
I don't think we should give Banner any credit at all for what Hulk achieved.
It was all "the monster".

I think NotYou is right, he's spent the entire Planet Hulk line stating that the monster is here, and is barely being held in check (ie Hulk just spazing out).

He's so bad, he mak'a me mad
Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad
He's a real cad, Un-fun Dad"

I agree, everything that has been achieved is all Hulk. And 99% of the storyline he has been raging like crazy.
I'm just going on the idea that, when he does start to calm down, is when he reverts to Banner. And there has been the occasional bit of down time. When the Warbound are sitting around getting some rest. It was one of these times that was shown in the Giant Size issue.
It's just my take that in those very brief, very rare times. When Hulk may relax just a bit too much, that Banner puts in a jab at him to keep the rage going, and to keep him Hulked out. Banner does not make any of the achievements. That is all Hulk. It is just the extremely rare time that Banner gives a little assist.
That's my opijnion on it and my interpretation. It doesn't make it right, it doesn't make yours wrong. It's just how I view it.
Keep in mind that the Hulk, a lot of times, acts as a survival instinct for Banner. He's tried to kill himself several times, and the Hulk will never LET him. Jump off a bulding, the Hulk lands. Pull the trigger to blow your brains out, it's Hulk brains on the wall, and he heals them quick.
This planet is all about survival. The Hulk is dominant.
Banner is inside, where it counts. I remember his appearance in the giant-sized issue. Thought that was him reappearing on purpose and then the Hulk taking back over real fast. Guess I was mistaken.

I don't have it to hand, but from what I remember I agree.
With the first part...not the mistaken part.
