I was reading Hellboy's thread about his printer mix-up Eternals issue and was wondering if a thread dedicated to such collectable oddities was warranted. I'd be interested to hear of people's rare variant scores, printing oddities, and what-nots. Anything dealing with out of the ordinary comics you have.
Along this line I have a question for you comix guys/gals. Was the first issue of Spiderman:Reign recalled? I had heard that it was because of Parker's "wardrobe malfunctiuon" where readers were given a glimpse of his dried up "wiggler" (blortch!, nasty! ).
Feel free to answer, or list your odd finds, or just brag about some rare or old comic you got for a steal.------
From memory the grey cover had more of the problem, but the 1 in a 100 cover had a similar recall on it iirc.
As to my own stories, I got a signed Dynamic Entertainments comic and the Store Clerk scanned the upc price not the actual price so I got a $20 signature for $3.
"When they come to take control every Ogre must play his role"
Cool. Someone had told me it was going to be recalled, but I thought maybe it was too late for that anyway when they had told me.
As far as odd stuff, I have a couple of double covered books. One is an old Fantastic Four annual and the other a Claremont/Byrne X-men issue that I can't recall the issue number of. I don't put any extra value on those, but I've seen some double cover issues sell for a higer-than-normal amount on e-bay. Don't know why people would be after that sort of thing though, but it seems they are.
Steals: I picked up an Iron Fist #14 for $.50 at a yard sale.
I also bought Ultimate Spiderman #1 when it first came out right off the rack. Funny thing about it though was the cover was white. A year later when I actually heard about its rarity, I brought it back to the store that I got it from and showed him. He got really mad at me, like I had ripped him off. I told him I had no idea that there was even a big deal about the white cover, just as he hadn't known when he put it on the rack for cover price. I don't buy comics from him any more as he started reducing my discount to virtually nothing. That was when I was spending $60 a week or so on new comics, so his loss.

Rule 1 of Comic Club, tell anyone else but never the shop.

I thought rule #1 was we weren't supposed to talk about Comic Club.....
Nevertheless, One day while discussing the prices in Wizard magazine, the comic shop dude was saying how he got screwed over and that he never got his retailer incentive white cover USM#1. I told him that he had indeed recieved one and that he sold it to me. He thought I was lying so I brought it in for him to see, but I did not let him touch it.
Also from the same shop a couple of years earlier, I bought a Wonder Woman annual #1 and (I think) an action comics annual or something, it has Superman and Batman on the cover by Art Adams, from the $.50 bin. I opened the books when I got home and found that Adams had autographed them both on the inside page 1. I am a big fan of his and was really stoked to find this.
Last year I walked into this game store and spotted all these comics just lying around. I find issue 1-4,7,10,11 of the Crisis on Infinite Earths all bagged up and in very good shape. Total Price: 3.00.
