Tonight we take a look at one of the newest members of HCrealms, to participate in this survey: DaveZee.
DaveZee has been a member of Hcrealms since 10/18/06 and is a 36 year old resident of Burbank, California.
When did you start reading comic books?
DZ: 1983
What or who got you started?
DZ: My sister got me started by starting to collect Alpha Flight and New Mutants
What do you like most about comic books? Least?
DZ:Most: Pure escapism. Least: Deus ex Machina endings.
What is your favorite title? Why?
DZ: Annihilation is my current favorite, mostly because the series didn’t end all wrapped up in a neat bow. There were unresolved issues, uncomfortable truces, loss of live… much more realistic than Civil Wars abrupt ending.
Who is your favorite/least favorite comic character? Why?
DZ:Favorite: Nova, because despite the fact he has great power, he still acts human; he second guesses himself, acts rashly sometimes. Least favorite: Iron Man, not because of his position in the CW series as much as his ridiculous womanizing attitude.
If your favorite comic book character is a hero, who is your favorite villain? If it’s a villain, who’s your favorite hero? Why?
DZ: Thanos has to be my favorite villain. He says more with a diabolical smile than any other character.
What is your favorite/least favorite hero team? Villain team? Why?
DZ:Favorite hero team: the new New Avengers, mostly because it has many of my faves on it. Least favorite: X-men due to over exposure. Villain team: Don’t really have a favorite or least favorite, as I tend to think of villains more as an individual.
Who is your favorite/least favorite comic writer? Why?
DZ: Keith Giffen and Bendis. I have to admit, I love Bendis’s banter… Don’t have a least favorite.
Who is your favorite comic artist? Why?
DZ: N/A Just like more traditional comics. Artists like Aja are not my favorite.
How many comics do you read on a monthly basis?
DZ: 5 plus single shots and minis.
How much do you spend on comics monthly?
DZ: $30
About how many comic books do you own?
DZ: 200
What is your favorite comic era- the Golden Age (1930’s-1950’s), the Silver Age (1950’s-1980’s), or the Bronze Age (1980’s to present)?
DZ: Bronze Age
What changes would you like to see in the comic book medium?
DZ: More concentration on the main titles and fewer miniseries.
What is more important to you: good stories or continuity? Why?
DZ: I don’t see why those should be mutually exclusive. Part of what makes a “bad” story is retconning major issues.
Do you only read comics from one company? If so which one and why?
DZ: No.
Pitch 5 comic series, Graphic Novels, or trades to members of HCrealms.
DZ:
The Adventures of Skreet and Cammi
Batman vs. Captain America
Once and for all, Sentry stops being a whiner and actually starts kicking butt,
Shang Chi vs. Iron Fist vs. Karate Kid
Post-Annihilation Galactus and Silver Surfer
What is your favorite comic-related movie to date?
DZ: X-men
If you watch comic-related cartoons, which has been your favorite?
DZ: Justice League Unlimited
What do you like about the comic forums of HCrealms? What do you dislike?
DZ: Just a good place to chat about the new issues that came out.
How can HCrealms improve the comic forums, to better suit the needs of the comic book readers who used the site?
DZ: I like it just the way it is.
What would you like HCrealms comic readers to know about you, in regards to you as a comic reader/collector?
DZ: Although I read comics a long time ago, I didn’t start reading them again until I got into Heroclix.
Thanks for your time DaveZee!
1/6th of the Brothers Prob. '19-'20 Season: 15-13(8 events) 2 wins, 2nd XDPS PR 9-7, 7th SOC
If there was a book called "The Adventures of Skreet and Cammi" then it should also feature Drax. He hangs in the shadows and bails the two title characters out of trouble w/o their knowledge.
This actually reminded me of a great cross-company comic they did several years ago. John Byrne was writing and drawing. It was Batman & Cap together in the 40's against The Joker and The Red Skull. Very well done and very entertaining.

If you want it to actually be a fight where the ending isn't a foregone conclusion, I'd suggest switching Richard Dragon in for Karate Kid. Anyone whose skills are to the point that he can fight Superman-level characters will have no problem taking both Shang Chi and Iron Fist at the same time Richard is the modern DCU top martial artist, and so is a better analog for Shang Chi.
