but Figure A is adjacent a friendly figure with enhancement, the damage in (a) becomes 2 and the damage in (b) becomes 4 with Enhancement, 5 without Enhancement.
To keep this short:
RCE/CCE can only be used with Probability Control and Team Abilities.
Here's something interesting I didn't think of: If you have someone with enhancement next to a range combat expert, you are better off cancelling the effect of enhancement under the optional rules. But that means no other characters can benefit from enhancement until next turn either, since optional abilities don't reset until the next turn.
I don't know if anyone's seen that happen but it's not all that unlikely. Just something that jumped out at me.
Also note that if you have an RCE character firing at multiple targets you will only do 1 damage even if you only successfully hit one of the two targets with your attack roll. Since you declared an attack against two targets you cannot benefit from RCE.
Why is it that you can use enhancement with EE or multiple targets, but not perplex? I have always understood that the reason perplex never worked was that you must first declare perplex, and then when you declare a multiple target or EE attack, that brought the damage back down to 1. Is the timing of Enhancement just different?
I knew this question would be asked....but I thought it would've been in another thread...
Alrighty...
It depends on the 'timing' of the power used in question...
I know that there is not really any timing in Heroclix... but here...
When you Perplex... it is declared before or after an Action.
Perplexing after an attack action has been resolved is futile, so the best thing to do is to Perplex before the action is declared.
So, you would Perplex the figure doing the Energy Explosion +1.
Then you would decalre that the Energy Explosion is being used which then reduces the Damage value to 1. So, then change you made was basically cancelled out.
Same thing with Multiple Ranged targets... you would Perplex +1, then declare the Multiple targets reducing the Damage to 1. The change was made, but was cancelled by declaring Multiple Targets.
With Enhancement and SHIELD, their declarations are made at the same time the attack is declared.
So you would declare that Energy Explosion is being used (Damage reduce to 1), and that Enhancment/SHIELD will augment (Damage is now 1 + how ever many Enhancement/SHIELD will be augmenting)
It is because of the timing of Enhancement.
Does that make sense?
