IME, threads that go on like this with opposing sides presented with no or little references tend to mean that there is no "official" stance on this.
My personal take is this: Crib sheets were previously disallowed by WK tournament rules. These are similar to the sort of crib sheets that they had referred to. If one player gets to reference them during the game, the other should as well.
Personally, I'd probably only bring cards for characters that have Special Powers or if I were playing a keyword team. Just more junk to cart with me/keep track of.
TRADES. eBay.
An Admin told me that I'm "too smart" for Another Realm. I hold that as a standing order.
Technically the only thing you HAVE to announce is what feats are on who. I always liked how autoregen announced that the charactor had it for those who didn't know. Only when a power is showing would you have to let them read the card to verify it if they don't know it; but I'd be happy to let someone see my card if it had a special power on it. Anyone who doesn't know abviously isn't the highest level gamer and I feel no need to "take advantage" of that type of gamer in the way.
Wow! I am actually surprised at the number of people who are not planning on just handing the cards over (My choice , obviously). There are no stats and while they are in some sort of order of appearance, it honestly never occured to keep that info from an opponent. The way I saw it was it is info available to me and should be available to him or her as well. They cannot click a dial down to see what is next, nor can I, but it seems if I have the cards available to me, my opponent should be allowed to see it as well.
Today was our first tournament with an abundance of new figures (CoG obviously) and I am very pleased to report that this never came up as an issue at all. Maybe it is because we are Canadian!
If yes, does that mean you are also allowed to bring your own library of
cards, so that you can look at the cards relating to your opponents
figures at your leisure, without asking them for their own copy?
Nice idea like bringing your own PAC & rulebook. This would sadly work best for completionists which are the hardcore and/or "rich" gamers so I reiterate to just let people see them when asked. Anything else starts to feel like the entitled taking advantage of the little guy.
Oh & I only play at home now with a pretty nice collection so I'm pretty close to an unbiased opinion in case anyone is wondering about my motivation - fairness & fun.

At my venue today everyone I saw playing (including me) just handed over the card when a special power appeared because the theme seemed to be being friendly over being cutthroat.

This is what I'm planning on.
I don't anticipate there being a problem with people showing the cards for the SPs... just like showing feat cards.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
