PLEASE help... newbie question about action tokens
Hi. I just read the book a few times and tried playing a couple games. Im still confused as to the purpose of action tokens...
Can someone PLEASE explain this in detail?
What are the point fo action tokens? When do u place them and pick them up? Your turn? Your next turn?
And like other games, why don't you just place them and remember who went?
And for a 100pt game do u really need action tokens?
Action tokens are used to mark the action of a character.
Action tokens are removed 1 full turn after being placed.
A character that does not rest 1 full turn and is assigned an action recieves another action token and is then considered to be pushed and takes a point of damage.
A character with 2 action tokens cannot be given another action token until both tokens are removed after 1 turn of rest.
There are special characters (Sinestro and Sentinel) that have their own rules for PUSHING.
When you say 1 full turn.. do you mean after I'm done assigning actions? Or do you mean after everyone playing goes once and it reutrns to my turn? Only then do I pick them up?
The tokens are removed 1 full turn (your turn) after the turn in which you originally placed the last action token on that figure.
example:
turn 1: assign action to Wolverine, place action token on Wolverine.
your opponents turn
turn 2: If Wolverine is not assigned another action, remove the token at the end of this turn.
Darius,
so whats the point of doing so with action tokens? jus tto help you remeber who went last? tahts it?
doesnt it seem a little cumbersome. i mean cant we all just remember who went in a game?
im not trying to argue it, but jusat trying to understand the purpose better.
When you field a large team it is helpful to have the reminder.
Also the power of incapacitate uses action tokens to mark the target as caught.
Plus the action tokens for every other turn should be of a different color or look to tell the difference between what turn you placed them.
Trust me on this... it is very important to use action tokens.
It will help you manage the battlefield for your army and your opponents as well.
One of the other things about action tokens:
If you decide to 'PUSH' a figure (give him actions in 2 consecutive turns) that character must rest on your third turn at which the end of you may then remove both action tokens.
Also, as Darthsabre replied in your double post on this topic:
you are only allowed 1 action per 100 points of your army/team. The action tokens help you keep track of the number of actions you have taken this turn.
Also some team abilities allow you a free movement that still needs to be marked with an action token. What this allows for is only a movement action that does not count towards your total actions for that turn. The character still needs to be marked because it performed an action that turn.
Wow thats confusing. So darius, if I attacked with a character and that had a smoke cloud on the attack. that person is pushed? cause he attacks and then "moves" for the smoke cloud? why would u mark a "free" movement if it doesnt coutn as an action? thats also confusing.
sorry about the double post, i thought different forums would have gotten more info.
What you're describing sounds like a figure doing two things on the same turn (attacking plus move action for smoke screen). That's not allowed. A figure can only take one action a turn (charge and running shot are special move actions). If, on the other hand, you're describing what a single figure is doing on two consecutive turns, you can do that, but it causes a "push", which you show with a second action token. Pushing does one click of damage to the figure that acted. On the third turn, this figure can do nothing but rest (it's already pushed). At the end of the rest turn, both tokens are removed and the figure is ready to go on your next turn.
Hope this helps.
