i've been playing a while but for some strange reason i don't know the answer to this. upon reading the flying character rules, it states that flying characters may move through opposing characters and their adjacent squares (mentions nothing on breakaway). do they not have to break away for this? reading the rules for breakaway, it mentions nothing of flying, so it sounds like you always have to break away.
thanks for the help.
click my blog button to see my haves, trying to update the new database currently. (blog is not a word for giant symbol, you are warned.)
they break away if they are in close combat before their move action... during their move though they do not need to break away from opposing figures. but if they end movement next to an opposing fig then yes, they have to break away next turn
awesome thanks a lot. that's ridiclous. they can just go wherever they want.
Pretty much, yes. That is why people tend to prefer flying characters with HSS, Charge, and such: you can move right over both characters AND terrain to attack what you want.
The only real thing to watch out for is that these characters still need to attack from a square they can legally occupy. For example, if Superman (with his HSS option 1) decides he wants to attack Green Lantern (who is walled in behind all the characters he toted along with his TA), he'll need to position himself in an empty square that will either be adjacent to GL or let him draw LOF to GL. He can't simply say that he is attacking from a square occupied by one of the meat shield because he's planning on leaving that square once the attack is done. Primarily, this is because of things like critical misses and Mystics damage; if Supes did try to attack from a square that was already occupied, rolled a critical miss, then clicked his dial and lost HSS, he wouldn't be able to move anymore.
