Even though it is an optional power, the power reads...
"Before the beginning of the first turn of the game, choose an opposing character, Lobo modifies his attack value by +2 when attacking that character. When that character is KO'd or eliminated, immediately choose different opposing character to be the target of this ability."
It says before the beginning of the first turn, meaning you could turn it off, but you couldn't pick another character because it will never be the first turn again.

The ability got errata, if its outwitted, when the power returns you get to name a new target.
But I think that it is different to Outwit a power(meaning you don't have it), and deciding to "turn it off"(the power is still there, your just not using it).

You would be correct.
Lobo has to stick with the target he initially chose until he KOs the target or Bounty Hunter is lost and regained.
or have a team mate outwit it then the next turn you could pick a new target. technicall you arent turning it off. Id pick ambush bug for this because hes cheap and has Prob control and outwit.

That hasn't been true ever has it? Or was it quickly changed during IC? I remember people wanting to Outwit Battle Fury to carry the Hulk and Wolverine
Contrary to popular belief, I do know what I'm doing
What happens if you Mind Control of use Deadman's Possesion on the target? It says KO'ed of eliminated. Does becoming friendly count as eliminated? I'd say no, except the recent discussion about what happens if Deadman Possesses the last character on an opponents force. (The game ends since there's no opposing characters left, but the owner of the Possessed figure gets the survival points since it wasn't KO'ed)

Nope, you couldn't ever Outwit a friendly character's power. If anyone did, then they were playing wrong.

Neither occurs when a character becomes friendly to your force.
