I've really been looking into these two characters. I really enjoy marvel comics but these characters seem to interest me. Batman more than Superman. I've been thinking about adding a Batman and Superman comics to my layaway list. What is currently the best title for each of these that best represents the character but provides the greatest entertainment value. Also I don't want to have to read 2-3 other titles for that character to know what is going on at a particular time if possible.

i can tell you that there is a worlds finedt series starting later this year with both of them in it, it looks to be really good.

other than that for supes i would recommend action comics (its really good right now)

for bats get detective it is currently one of the only good bat books i know of. (other than nightwing of course)

Don't forget to get Batman by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee.Awesome art and is also turning out to be a good "who's who" of Batman.

I don't read superman books, but Batman is the best Bats title going right now (Loeb and Lee are great on it!). Batman supporting books that are good are Batgirl and Robin.

If you're looking for Bats and Supes, then I would also recommend that you pick up JLA. And go back and pick up the JLA: Tower of Bable trade paperback collection. One of the best JLA stories in a very long time!

I don't like thinking of Superheros in the same world. To me each superhero is in his/her own separate world. Except in team cases ie. X-men. But crossovers and the JLA I don't particularly like. Thanks I'll check out both Batman and Detective Comics later this week. Thanks for the help.

I recommend the collected Batman stories The Long Holloween and Dark Victory, both of which capture the Dark Knight's gritty atmosphere.
