Hello!
Okay, a quick perusal of the rules forum didn't offer an answer to my query below (which may be because it's so blisteringly obvious -sigh-), but I offer apologies if this has been asked a thousand times and I've missed it...
The rulebook says that "Characters 2 squares away from a giant character are not considered adjacent for ranged combat purposes." That is so that the giant figure and the figure 2 squares away can make ranged combat attacks against each other, I see that (duh ). But (since they're not base-to-base) can those two figures make ranged combat attacks against figures outside of that 'giant / extended adjacency zone'? Can they attack only each other? Can they fire out of giant adjacency, as it were (since they're, according to the rules, "not considered adjacent for ranged combat purposes")?. Am I making this way more complicated than I need to?
For example, say Dragon Man is two squares away from Grim Reaper (and in giant adjacency). 3 squares 'behind' Grim Reaper is Yondu (also on GR's team). Can Dragon Man make a ranged combat attack against Yondu even when the Reaper is 2 squares away from DM? DM could NOT, if they were in base-to-base, right?
Thanks SO much for wading though that, and I'd GREATLY appreciate any assistance you could offer!
Be well,
-jason
Since they are not adjacent for ranged combat purposes, it isn't really that they're "shooting out of adjacency." You know, because they aren't adjacent. So, they can shoot at whoever they like (assuming they have a range and line of fire, etc.).
Yeah, I have problems wrapping my head around it, too. It helps me to think of it using computer-style logic. (If making a range attack, check adjacency. If two squares from a giant and using range attack, adjacency=false.) YMMV.
TRADES. eBay.
An Admin told me that I'm "too smart" for Another Realm. I hold that as a standing order.
What if your base to base with a gaint. I'm assuming the standard character can't make ranged attacks out but...
Can the standard character make a ranged attack at the giant?
Can the Giant character make a ranged attack back?
If so can the giant character (with two bolts) make a dual target ranged attack at the character at his base and at a character he is not baseing?

If both are non-flyers, neither can make a ranged attack. If one is a non-flyer, they can both make ranged attacks, but if the non-flyer is based by another opposing non-flyer, it actually can't make an attack. If both are flyers, both can attack. Neither can attack out of adjacency.
The giant rules are slightly different than colossal rules on this subject.
