i get to play in a large number of constructed events this week so i was checking out some various teams. curious as to comments what people think, weaknesses strengths etc...
so for my 300 constructed detective theme team
100 Dark Knight Detective
+ 12 contingency plan
75 JL V Batman
55 JL Plastic Man
58 E Elongated Man
what BF would you use? how would you play this team? how would you beat this team? i have my own thoughts but i am looking for some alternate perspective
thanks

Besides Deep Shadows as the obvious choice to help out Bats, Shrunk is a good alternative that will limit long range figs that can see through stealth. Inertial Interference Field is always a good one, and you won't have to ignore it because it won't affect you.
Armor Wars maybe as well.
I'm not sure about Elongated Man though. This a DC only team?
Well, if I'm playing you, the very first thing I'm going to do is ping DK Bats for a single click and shut down that Contingency Plan. It's a lot to pay for a feat that you might not even get to use (it works best on a fig that's a back line fighter and DK Bats - at a third of your team - will have to be anything but one). The Sandman suggestion is good, and he could definitely replace either Plastic Man or Elongated Man.

True why don't you just drop him for a V madrox. he acn use the card on more cilxs and he's cheaper.
I really like this team, but hate doubling up on characters. I put the Question on my team rather than the OOTS Batman - but only because I prefer Highlander.
Maybe i'll make a Question Mod - on an OOTS batman base!
coming soon : nu52 Hercules

It is illegal to play 2 Batmans, especially when one is OOTS Batman
Back on to the thread...don't forget the most excellent rookie Martian Manhunter and of course Sandman!
Anyone found Plastic Man really worth playing? I know he is a transporter and all but he just seems a bit underwhelming for the points.
It is a shame that the Detective theme cannot be played in floor too. A lot of nice Detective DC figures and basically no Marvel right? (except Madrox)
KILOWOG not KILOWAG, KILAWOG or KILAWAG ROGUE not ROUGE (which happens to be RED in French) GRAVITON not GRAVITRON (Decepticon that never got made?)
the reason i like contingency plan is that with the JLA free moves i can very rapidly increase one of the batman ranges to nine, or maneuver my pieces around the board using plastic man's move and attack and negate his penalty getting + chance pot shots while positioning.
i liked the potentical of 2 11 attack batmen, one with OOTS and the other with the ability to see through stealth
i liked that one batman starts as the outwitter and the other one becomes the outwitter after taking a hit or two
plastic man is a great piece with his ability to block line of fire with his base and stealth. he is a great taxi for detective teams, since he can take potshots while repositioning. and the double base with plasticity and shape change, makes for a great relatively cheap piece your oponnend will have a potentially rough time putting down while you wreak havok with batmen
as for elongated man. he is incredibly mobile positioning wise, between leap climb and JLA he is going to be where you want him when you want him. between the PC and supersenses and 17 defense he is way too much effort to put down for 58 points, and if you only do the job halfway i have yet another outwit. the defenses and late dial plasticity make him again a nice tie up piece to keep your batmen healthy and moving. and he can take a shot every once in a while.
i also normally only play highlander. but i really have been into building theme teams lately (i like the source of ideas they provide) and this was one fo the better ways to build around the dark knight, which was my ultimate goal

Sandman 59
PlasticMan 55
Batman 75
Spider women 67
R Question 40
296 points. I really wanted to stick the 138 point batman and robin on there because I think its a lot of fun to play, but i couldn't figure out who to boot off for him.
Also for this weeks tourny do we have to play on the arena map? Stealth isn't to bad on there, but there is better maps for it.
Well, you already saw my detective team starring only one Batman. For those that didn't see it:
Batman JL w/ Lucky Break
Batzarro JL
R Question Or w/ Flashbang
R Elongated Man CD
Plastic Man JL
BFC's: Back Alley Brawl, Communication Breakdown.
I put Flashbang on Question not realizing he had a zero range. If I had it to do over again, I would put it on Batzarro. In any case, you've got 3 starting Outwit, 4 pieces with stealth, 2 of which are Bat Ally, a transporter, and PC on Elongated Man's second click. I play Protected only sparingly, otherwise, it would be on Batman instead of the other feats. And its generally a friendly environment so I try not to play Malice.
What I learned:
Well, since only 4 of us showed up, we decided to do a 4 way ffa instead of a standard tourney. First, with this team, I should have saved my theme PC for my opponents' turns instead of using it on my own. This would be less of an issue if it was a standard tourney though because of E-Man. Second, Running Start would be a good option for a feat on Question to get him into position for Outwit. Third, despite the lack of 'natural' hindering terrain, with 3 objects, it was still really easy to use OotS to get into position. Fourth, I should have used more of the immobile (blue ring) special objects. That way, I don't need to worry about other players 'yoinking' the hindering terrain from under my stealthers. That or just try to fit in another fig with 3 natural damage (or perplex) on their first click. Fifth, that Time Bomb Event dial and multiple bombs really hinders OotS.
