Nice one, Jack. This was a hard game to watch; it looked like the dice just abandoned you! Hopefully things will turn up for the Titans when they get out of Hell.

They did fine for me when the game was on the line, though.
I'm looking forward to the next part of the story.
I hope Neron doesn't know something I don't about these here portals.
The Titans fought on as the demonic armies pressed ever closer and ever tighter around them. They kept their backs to the portal, and their bodies between the doorway to Earth and the army of gruesome creatures so desperate to get through.
“Let's go already!” Hawk yelled. “The door's right here!”
“Not yet!” Nightwing commanded, dropping a pair of scrambling creatures with a ricocheting strike of an escrima stick. “Make sure we're clear first. If any of these things get past us or try entering with us, the door could close and home is lost.”
“So what, then?” Arsenal shouted, firing a small hand-crossbow while hefting Starfire's body over his shoulder. “What do we need to do before we can go through?!”
“Pull together,” Cyborg said, drawing the team to him in a tight group. “Keep yourself between them and the door. Don't let any of them through!”
They blasted and punched and shot down demonlings two at a time, all the while shuffling closer and closer to the dimensional gateway. As they finally got within its reach, Dove noticed what was happening to it.
“The portal is shrinking!” she cried out.
“Yeah,” Nightwing said. “That's what we want. Hold them all off until it's just big enough for us to fit through, and then we all jump.”
“Oh, yeah,” Arsenal groaned. “That oughtta be easy.”
“Sure,” Hawk laughed madly as he bashed a monster in its nose. “Total cakewalk.”
The fight went on, and the shimmering gate grew ever smaller. Nightwing's heart was in his throat, and at every moment he wanted to turn and order the team to jump – but if he did, and he had calculated wrongly, then the monsters they fought could jump in with them and break the portal.
Neron had been very specific; this doorway could only be used once, and only for one group's passage. If the demons forced their way in, some of them might be forced out and wind up trapped in this hell forever.
So on and on the battled. Through weariness and pain and exhausted muscles. They wer cut, they were bruised, but they refused to be beaten. Beast Boy fell, and Cyborg dragged his body in as the group tightened their formation. Doves legs gave out under her, and Hawk beat back the oppressors as they tried to capitalize. Again, the Titans closed ranks.
When it at last looked like it was now or never, Nightwing gave the command. With a sudden burst of motion, he hurled electric discs that shocked and stunned a number of the front line attackers, and then turned to call out to his team.
“Now, Titans! Go!”
Hawk was the first through, grabbing Dove and making his leap; Cyborg was right behind them with Beast Boy in tow, and Arsenal limped along closely, dragging Starfire.
Nightwing was the last one through the gate, but with a last look back at the horrific landscape and the sea of monsters, he hurled himself through the glittering gossamer wall of the portal – now only just big enough for his tumbling body to slide through.
With a thud, he felt himself land on the cold stone floor of a strange room. Rolling to his feet, he looked around only to see with some level of stunned surprise that they had landed right in the middle of another fight.
He didn't know who the bad guys were, as most of the people fighting looked at least a little monstrous. But when he saw the inky black form of a shadow shaped like a great bird spreading at the center of the medieval styled room, he knew to whose aid they needed to rush.
“Raven!” he called out. “We're here!”
She looked surprised to see them, but it made little difference to Nightwing. As tired, sore, and injured as they all felt, there was one last thing to do.
“Rally up, team,” he called, jumping into action. “There's a Titan in trouble!”
Doesn't look like my training issue will be over in time for the new issue (which I swear I'm almost done with, Sheer).
