Uh... are we forgetting someone? Someones, plural?
At first, I thought it was a limitation thing, like you can only be on one Avengers offshoot team. But Wonder Man is a Mighty and West Coast Avenger. And there are tons of West Coast Avengers. And tons of regular Avengers.
Yea, 3 Mighty Avengers and no New Avengers, even though we just recently got almost everyone to make a New Avengers team (Ronin, Luke Cage, etc.)
Granted, a full Mighty Avengers team would be in the 1000 point range (what with all the big hitters like Sentry, Ares, Wonderman, Iron man, etc.) but I was really hoping to run an Mighty team this weekend and ended up with my second choice, an Ultimate Avengers team (which actually persormed very well for me).
So, is this just an oversight? Will WK ever revisit the keyword list and revise it? Or is this just something I should let the local judge rule on if it will get me the theme team bonus?
We had to make a rule, to compensate for WK shortcomming on the keyword list.
As long as you can prove a figure belongs on a tem (if they lack the keyword), then you can run the keyword team. If someone questions you, you have to be able to provid proof, otherwise, you just have a theme team without the benfits of the keyword.
1/6th of the Brothers Prob. '19-'20 Season: 15-13(8 events) 2 wins, 2nd XDPS PR 9-7, 7th SOC
Mighty Avengers is a fairly recent thing, and will, I imagine, be covered in the Secret Invasion set. Until then, the members you are thinking of do not have a version from in this team. The latest Iron Man for instance is Ultimate Iron Man. The most recent Sentry model was made before the Mighty Avengers comic came out. Same for Ms Marvel.
The new way of doing models (non REV) mean that very specific moments in a characters career can be represented. Not so say this will always happen, but it can.
I expect, as I said, we will have a Might Avengers Black Widow, Iron Man, Ms Marvel and Sentry in the next Marvel set. After all, Mighty Avengers is set during the Secret Invasion.
People are too quick to point out 'shortcomings' without thinking about possible reasons.
if that is the same IC wasp i'm thinking of that has the MA keyword...considering she was a good 5 years before Mighty...talk about incorrect. That's not even her costume.
But yeah, I'm hoping the next set rounds them out. Hopefully a new Ms. Marvel (who is just GORGEOUS with Frank Cho drawing her) and Sentry. Or Iron Man in his most recent costume. But I heard the FCBD Iron Man will be this figure.

That works for Sentry but not some of the others. No reason they couldn't have given some of the older figures the mighty avengers keyword when they made up the retired keyword list. The Black Widow from Clobberin time and the Warbird frm critcal mass are closer to their current mighty avengers incarnations than the wasp that got the keyword is. I really like the new avengers but I think they would have been more apprpriate with a seperate keyword. They're less likely to be fielded with any former avengers. They're much more independant than the mighty avengers are. And many of their members are people who've never served as avengers before, as opposed to people like Ironman, Ares and Wasp who would be thematically appropriate on many avengers teams, both mighty and classic. Especially seeing as the mighty avengers are the 'official' avengers, being the only registered version.
I just don't see the point with playing a game with such a diverse background and flavour as Heroclix and such a massive pool of pieces to choose from to limit yourself to playing dupes or the same character over and over.
