hey guys,
I was wondering; if 2 figures are adjacent to each other, and there is an object, either under the opposing fig or adjacent to it, can a fig with SS just yank it out and hit him with it? someone said you would have to break away and run out and come back in order to do so.
In order to pick up an object the character must move. So a character couldn't just pick up and whack someone with an object. You may pick up an object as you are moving into adjacency though. But yes, character with charge would have to break away then move, at which time he could pick up the object and smash!
You must pick up the object in a move or power action. This would involve breaking away (or leap/climb and/or phasing/teleport).
You also cannot simply pick up an object and attack, you must have some power/ability to move and then attack (such as charge, pounce with leap/climb present on the dial, hypersonic speed option 1, or move and attack ability as granted by transporter)
Hercules cannot just stand adjacent to someone, pick up the object and hit them. He lacks the ability to move and attack. However, Magog can rll for breakaway using charge, successfully roll the break away, pick up the object, and then move 0-5 squares and hit someone with the object.
Eh . . .
I have no sekrets, I just am.

It is also important to know that a non-flier moving (Charging) into base contact with a figure standing on an object cannot pick that object up since non-fliers have to stop movement when they enter base contact with an opposing figure. Since it is no longer moving when it comes into base contact, it is not permitted to pick up the object.
No Charging that Batman hiding on an object, picking it up, and bashing him with it if you can't fly.
HSS on a non-flier would allow you to do the same thing, but this is a much less common occurrence.

There are, of course, exceptions to this statement in that it is not restricted only to fliers (though they'll be he most frequently seen). Any figure which is moving under a game effect which allows figure bases to be ignored can yank the object out. For example a Charging non-flier with the Movethrough feat won't be affected by being forced to stop.
