I have all but dropped my Marvel titles, just not digging most of whats going on in Marvel. In recent years I've been slowly buying more DC titles. I've always liked certain DC characters, Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, Spectre, Nightwing, Superboy*sigh*.
I hear talk that some DC fans are upset over Jason Todd coming back. I did read Batman: Hush and very much enjoyed it. I like the way Loeb writes Batman. In the Marvel universe I am a big fan of the street level darker characters, Daredevil being my all time fav character, Punisher in there as well.
After simply seeing the Red Hood sculpt he looks like he may be my cup of tea. I was just looking for some advice on the character, what to read and such, also, Red Hood is Jason Todd right?
I am not familiar with the sculpt but Jason Todd version of Red Hood was different in look then the original Red Hood.
Originally Red Hood was actually an alias of The Joker and probably the easiest find for a story about Joker in this costume is the recently released Killing Joke special edition hardcover though I think a later printing, maybe even a first I haven't priced the issue out in a long time, of the Killing Joke is probably way less then that book if you can find a copy.
I am sure the story has been collected in graphic novels but the Jason Todd return starts in the mid 630's of Batman and goes to 650 and a Batman Annual.
Jason Todd has been in just about every issue of the Countdown To Final Crisis series with really only the earlier issues and recent issues really adding anything to the character.
if you are more in to the street level characters you may want to try out Green Arrow and Black Canary. Dead Shot limited series if you can find them. Suicide Squad really didn't ever fight overly powerful baddies but not all the characters were what I would call street level but a number of them were and is a pretty good title. Richard Dragon though not really a great series you might be able to find issues cheap and see if he is up your alley. Birds of Prey fights characters more on the street level too. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
Oh yeah, editing this in, there is also Wild Dog. He was kind of DC's attempt to capture The Punisher market. Might be able to find his limited series cheaply and was in issues of Action Comics Weekly, lower 600's of Action Comics.
I didn't like the recent Vigilante limited series as much as I hoped for but he is a character you may want to check out.
the red hood from crisis IS jason todd....thats the body armor & jacket he used when he was blowing stuff up and taking out mob bosses and all the other scum of gotham city ....he later lost the hood when he revealed himself to batman....
