Ack, sorry. I meant Ultimate Power, the Ultimate U/Supremverse crossover. My mistake. BTW, if your curious, Marvel did solicit issues 8 and 9 of Squadron Supreme.
Can't direct link the cover art from Marvel, so click on the link to see it.
Issues 8 http://www.marvel.com/catalog/?id=5191
Superstar artist Mike Deodato (Amazing Spider-Man, New Avengers) joins J. Michael Straczynski as a new era dawns on the Squadron Supreme!Don’t miss this great jumping on point as alliances are formed and the Squadron continues to draw political lines in the sand!
Issue 9 http://www.marvel.com/catalog/?id=5353
The fallout from the Squadron Supreme’s peacekeeping efforts in the Middle East continues to have massive – and unforeseen – repercussions on the group. Will the world’s most dangerous team crumble from the inside?
I wonder, when SS ever gets relaunched again, if they'll use these two issues, say in an annual or something. Continuality wise, it'd have to be prior to Ultimate Power. I have a feeling though, probaly not.
Man thats sweet. Powers is one of the 2 marvel titles i would still read.So can you please save mine Infromation and sent me a P.M. when the new line is going to press. So that I can put a pull out for them. If you can thanks. But please post a reply thread letting me know.
Squadron Supreme to be precise started waaaaay back in the eighties with Marvel's New Universe it was an attempt to piggy back on Crisis. The stories are right out of the "Superhero Team" play book it's not bad just unoriginal. Read Exile's King Hyperion story to understand how much of BADASS he really is the way he kills Magneto, Rouge and pretty much every one else on that Earth is drop dead funny. You also learn a he's got NO METAL in his body this was very very very very bad because it rendered Magneto powerless.
While I am about to tckle Gruenwald's series for the first time (and therefore cannot comment
I envy you, being able to read that classic for the first time.
You certainly don't have to read every prior appearance of the Squadron for background, but I would recommend checking out Defenders # 112-114 if you can. It would give you some appreciation of how the Squadron's Earth got into the state it's in as Gruenwald's series begins. Should be able to find them very cheaply on eBay.

Thanks for the recommendation. You saved me from starting a thread asking if there was a prequel to the series explaining what happened to the Squadron's world.
I've really been enjoying it. The backstory would be great!
Rep to you!
1/6th of the Brothers Prob. '19-'20 Season: 15-13(8 events) 2 wins, 2nd XDPS PR 9-7, 7th SOC
You might also pick up the Avengers: Serpent Crown TPB, reprinting Avengers #141-144 and 147-150; that gives some earlier background, not immediately pre-Gruenwald story but helpful too.
A few Squadron members integral to Gruenwald's story first appeared in the Defenders issues: Power Princess, Arcanna, and Nuke!
