Ok, so since I started playing heroclix, there are a few powers that never mades sense to me that I have decided to avoid at all costs. One such power is Energy Explosion. I just don't really get the concept. ESPECIALLY the whole, dual target Energy Explosion attack. Somehow you can end up dealing more than one click to various characters? Can someone please explain this to me? I wanna use Gambit from the Mutations and Monsters set and really want to know how to use all of his abilities to my advantage.
Ok, Ill use Layman's terms here. Not the game specific vocabulary.
Basicly when you target a character with energy explosion.
Your basicly throwing a 1 damage bomb at the dude
and when the bomb explodes if it hits the target, it can "Splash" and hit all the other characters that are next to the orginal target.
now any character that is also it. also takes 1 damage.
So lets say you have... Oh I dont know
New Guy Ironman, and he is next to... Uh First Class Iceman from MnM.
So you target Iceman with Gambit. and you roll 7.
That means you hit iceman for one, and missed Ironman.
But lets say you roll an 8.
Will you hit Iceman, and sense you did you get to compare your attack roll to Ironman... and Hit him for 1 too! yay!
Now, Lets say you remember that Gambit is Duel bolts.
So you target BOTH characters with EE.
and you roll that same eight.
Because its all a single attack, instead of doing one damage to each character you will do two damage to each character (though Ironman reduces his damage to one)
and this is different then doing one damage twice.. its specificly counts as a two damage attack (but only if both EE's hit)
now what if your three bolts EE?
if you hit three adjacent targets your do three to each.
EE is one of my favorite powers. 3 Target EE (the old Ultron) with Armor Piercing is just nasty. Even dual Target EE with AP is awesome. Try it, you'll like it
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........
It took a long time for me to grasp EE. Actually the previous thread on this subject does an excellent job of breaking it down.
I can't tell you how confused I was the first time someone had done a HSS Option 2 attack on me... sometimes the WK choice of wording can be a little confusing. Seeing is understanding in this game.
EE is a great power, and often times overlooked or underestimated. Use it and use it well!!!
