It looks like in the new rules that you can use TK to attack a character with an object up to 20 squares away. Is that right? If you have a clear line of fire to an object, you make a ranged combat attack as if you occupied the square that the object is in up to 10 squares away.

If I make you a trade offer, even if you think it's ridiculous, please at least respond with a kind and simple "Thanks but no thanks."

no no....
first, the range of TK is now 8 squares from the user. and the attack is made from the square the object occupies with a range of 8. So characters must be within 8 spaces of the object to be attacked by it.
Objects and Telekinesis
Characters that can use the Telekinesis power can move objects and
characters from a distance; they can also use objects as weapons (the
following description supplements the Telekinesis entry on the Powers and
Abilities card).
Moving objects and characters using Telekinesis
(options 1 and 2). To move a target object or character using
Telekinesis, the character using Telekinesis must be 8 or fewer squares from
the target and have a clear line of fire to the target. When Telekinesis is
used to move the target, it can be moved 8 squares in any direction but
must end its movement in a square 8 or fewer squares from the character
using Telekinesis, and the character using Telekinesis must have a clear line
of fire to the square where the movement ends, as shown in Figure 19.
The target being moved does not affect the line of fire. If the target is a
friendly character, it must break away from opposing characters before it
can be moved. If the target moves into a square adjacent to an opposing
character, it must stop its movement; if this would result in the target
character ending its movement in a square not allowed by the rules of
Telekinesis, it must be moved to a different square if possible or end its
movement in the square where it began its movement. A friendly character
that has been moved using Telekinesis can’t use Telekinesis to move other
characters until the beginning of your next turn.
Attacking with an object using Telekinesis (option
3). To attack with an object using Telekinesis, choose an object 8 or fewer
squares away and a target opposing character 8 or fewer squares away;
the character using Telekinesis must have a clear line of fire to both the
object and the target, but the object does not affect line of fire to the
target. Make a ranged combat attack as if the character using Telekinesis
were in the square occupied by the object (as shown in Figure 20) and had
a range value of 8. The object used in the attack is destroyed, even if the
attack fails or is evaded.
Regardless of the attacker’s damage value, the target of a successful
attack using a light object is dealt 2 damage; a heavy object, 3 damage.
Yeah, it's way more limiting than it once was. The object must be within 8 spaces, and it can only be moved up to 8 spaces from where it is, AND it must STAY within 8 spaces of the TKer.
So if the object is 4 spaces to the left and the opponent is 5 spaces to the right, even though both are within 8 spces of the TKer, the attack cannot be made.
I hope the new rulebook that gets re posted is in keeping with this, it reads very differently as it stands. I guess we have to wait and see.
that bulk of text I posted was directly from the rulebook...you need to update it, I heard the version first posted had typos, theres a new one up in its place.
Telekinesis:
Give this character a power action and choose one of the following options. (For all options, this character must have a clear line of fire to the target and is treated as if it has a range value of 8. For options 1 and 2, the target ignores the effects of elevated and hindering terrain on movement.) (1) Move an Opposing Character: This character makes one close combat or ranged combat attack that deals no damage. If the attack succeeds and the target has or possesses the <<standard>> damage symbol (but is not a double-base figure), move the target up to 8 squares so long as it ends its movement 8 or fewer squares from this character. (2) Move an Object or a Friendly Character: This character targets an object or a friendly character that is 8 or fewer squares away and moves it up to 8 squares so long as it ends its movement 8 or fewer squares from this character in a square to which this character has a clear line of fire. (3) Attack with an Object: This character makes a ranged combat attack targeting a single opposing character as if it occupies the square occupied by a non-held standard object; this character must be 8 or fewer squares away from both the object and the target of the attack. The target of a successful attack using a light object is dealt 2 damage; a heavy object, 3 damage.
and following is taken from Nbperp's post:
Quote
Attacking with an Object – in order for a TKer to be able to make an attack with an object, a number of conditions must be met. (a) The TKer has line of fire to an object within 8 squares, (b) The TKer has a line of fire to the target within 8 squares and (c) the target is within 8 squares of the object. For example:
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . O . . .
. T . . . . . . . . . X .
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . 1 . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . 3 .
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . 2 . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
In the above diagram, the character with Telekinesis can use the Object since it is 8 squares away. It cannot use the X object because it is too far from the TKer. The only target the object can be used on is 1 as it is within 8 squares of both T and O. The character in 2 is too far away from the object while the character in 3 is too far away from the TKer.
So this basically supports what Saklas said, and basically states that both the object and the target of the attack should be within 8 squares of TKer and TKer should have a clear line of fire to both of them. Object should also be within 8 squares of the target, but object doesn't need to have a clear line of fire to the target. Another restriction is object should be standard, no special objects can be used for TK attacks.
You can't use TK for attack with a TKer if he is based by an opposing character, unless TKer has new sharpshooter ability. However adjacency between the object and the target isn't important, you can use a standard object adjacent to the target for the TK attack to that target, provided that they are both within 8 squares of TKer, and TKer has a clear line of fire to both, just like stated above.
