Thank you for reading the show notes and/or listening. We usually name the episode after something that was discussed and since it was our second time recording the show because of the technical problem, plus EA adding mulligans (which is also a sports term) into at least Madden and maybe all of their sports games, that became the title of the show.
My first post describes how the name and catchphrase of the show came into being. Thanks again!
Thanks for having content I have interest in!
All the reviews have been mediocre to poor in this thread so... why exactly would I decide to listen to a podcast I have no interest in? I did read the notes but I figured these notes were covering additional programming outside of Vs. cards.
On top of that, I was making an apology. That's OK though, you don't need to take my apology gracefully. Of course, your attitude will pretty much garentee that I'll never listen to your podcasts even if you do decide to put something that would interest Heroclix players in them.
Also, there is no mention of the Madden '09 change in the description of the podcast on the main page, thus, how is someone to know it's about that instead of a card mulligan? You know, on a card/miniatures forum group...
"Come on Hulk! Where's the old boasting? The battle cries? Why aren't you bellowing about how you're 'the strongest one there is'? Could it be because... you know it's not true?"
"No. Because it's just too obvious."
-Juggernaut to Hulk
I'm all for it being there, but it would be nice if it were maybe sectioned into more digestible tidbits, rather than one enormous talk session. I wanted to hear the bit about Dragon Quest, but was unable to randomly find it, just clicking around through the bar, and didn't want to hear it badly enough to sit through the rest of it.
If I remember rightly, the Dragon Quest content was around the 65 minute mark.
If something's particularly long, I'd suggest a table of contents of sorts for folks who are interested in specific content.
Something like
5:00 - 14:00 -- Topic A
14:00 - 26:00 -- Topic B
and so on.
Two friends of mine do an awesome weekly comic review podcast and do this same thing. Even though they normally only run about an hour, when they're reviewing upwards of 10-15 books a week, it helps a great deal to have the content bulletpointed by time segment.
A lot of exsisting fans enjoy the current length, but I understand how that is a barrier to some. What would you think to the overall length remaining the same, but perhaps it's broken down into 3 / 4 smaller sized files, with a descrition of what is in each "part"? That way people can download just one part that interests them or the entire show if they so desire?
That sounds like a plus, that way you can keep your current length for your current fans, but lets face it, we live in a much faster paced society today. Lots of people hear about news in sound bites any more, (probably one reason ratings for evening news has dropped) so any kind of podcast that could be dissected into multiple lengths with listeners able to listen to sections of a program, say one section for action games, one section for Heroclix content, one section for comic books, etc.

Thank you for finding that!! In post 14, I asked where about that content was, I was done after 1/2 hour in and started jumping around, and stopped listening.
One last question: about how old are the two guys doing the podcast?

I wasn't being sarcastic. I was being sincere for giving us a chance although maybe you didn't. If I was being sarcastic, I would have used blue text. I'm sorry the metaphor wasn't clear, but I'm assuming Steven thought the line about doing the show over again (hence a mulligan) was pretty clear.
AND FOR THE THIRD TIME THIS IS NOT A VS PODCAST BUT IS A VIDEO GAME ONLY PODCAST UNLESS THE EPISODE IS MARKED SOMETHING ELSE AND THOSE WON'T BE POSTED HERE!
I explained how we came up with the name and slogan for the show in my first post.
I'll talk to Steven to see what we can do but since we usually cover 10-12 stories per week it may be hard to seperate all those times out. We'll see.
So, Steven, when you were talking about getting rid of old people in the show, does that include me? I'm 33 next month, but still sexay!
On the topic of the show - Jason, I have VF5 for the PS2 and I've never been able to beat Dural. That one loss and the game is over is so completely infuriating. What's been your character of choice?
Like I said on the show (either this one or 11) I'm not an expert on VF at all because of how intimidating it is. I usually use Sarah Bryant, but I am no means an expert on what is the best character, etc. One and done for the final boss is a pain in the neck.
My only area where I even get within a sniff of being really good is with the Capcom 2D fighters, particuarly the SF 2 series and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. In terms of 3D fighters, I am decent (although by no means awesome) with them and I do have favorite characters, but I haven't played a whole bunch of Tekken 5 (got it for cheap) and I haven't played DoA 4 in a while. I'm really looking to getting back into Soul Calibur with the new installment next month.
And with the news today, it looks like we'll not see Dead or Alive 5, or at least not with it's creator.
I think a Heroclix-only podcast would be great, but I can see how/why you'd want to cover other WK-related games (especially if they're sponsoring). Still, I'd like to see a "Clixcast" similar in format to Critical Hit.
TWiT is a good example of how to schedule time, and since you're not dealing with live callers, much more time can be devoted to relevant topics.
