I've heard of her, but she died before I read anything with her. So i just kinda wanna know if ya'll knew the girls' fighting style? Was she a weapons expert? A close combat fighter? I read that she is a shape shifter like mystique, but can actually copy powers!! If she was that good I really can't see how she should have died...I mean go copy Sentry or something. Was she a cool character? Can anybody give me a little background?

She initially took Domino's place when Cable reformed the New Mutants into X-Force.

I don't recall that she can copy powers though.. maybe that was a change she made later?

Regardless, as she did impersonate Domino for quite a while I believe she would be well trained in fire arms and hand-to-hand combat... although when she wasn't Domino she was always protrayed as a big wuss (IMO).

She also couldn't really shapeshift quickly. She had to spend a lot of time studying a target before she could really morph herself into looking spot-on.

If she could ape Domino convincingly for a whole year (around a telepath like Cable), you can bet she's got some fighting skills and some weapons training. She was a mercenary in "The Circle Chase" and she seemed reasonably competent. When she was on death's door, she was actually able to copy Deadpool long enough to heal herself of the damage, so in extreme situations, she can copy the power, but later, when she was disguised as Titania for a number of issues, she had to use gadgetry to simulate her super-strength.

She did have self-esteem issues (which comes with being an ex-prostitute, I imagine), and her end-game came during a particularly nonsensical run on Deadpool's first ongoing from Frank Tieri, where Vanessa was suddenly written like an insane maniac (and Garrison Kane became an evil child-killer). The only compelling part of Tieri's Deadpool run there was Vanessa's actual death, which was gruesome and dark and I still want to see Deadpool kick the living snot out of Sabertooth for it.

I dunno. Maybe Liefeld brought her back as an uberthing in one of his crappy books no one reads. Last I knew, she was dead as of Deadpool 50-60ish.

Oh shes dead alright. It was just under her power description they had her power say that it was shape-shifting like mystiques', but she can copy on a genetic level and copy a person's powers. So when i read that she portrayed Domino for most of her career and had such power, why didn't she make herself "godly". I asked ya'll because I thought this was far-fetched and I never read X-force so she kinda interested me. Actual readers are more reliable than a fake powerset made up by some super fan!!
