Originally posted by Badges2 A rival villian? Why not use, I don't know, SABERTOOTH then? LD was an okay character comicwise. I would much rather see Wolverine's and Sabertooth's blood-feud. But Singer screwed that over when Wolverine didn't know him from the first movie.... bleh....
Singer didn't screw up ... you did. Sabretooth knew Wolverine by hanging onto his dogtags. The whole idea about wolverine in the first movie is he doesn't remember a large part of his past ...that part included his knowing Sabretooth.
I like the fact that Strker was controlling a mutant that he had enhanced in s similair manner to wolervine. Using sabretooth under Styker would have been way too contrived ...even for a comic book based movie.
Well, if you ask me, they made Sabretooth too lame in the first movie to make him a viable "anti-wolverine" over the series. The character had so much potential as a rutheless, powerful, intellegent mercinary... but I digress. Deathstrike was just the next step. Another person that's been a Wolvie enemy for a long time they they could screw the origin up with. Hey, atleast she was cooler then the first movie's Sabretooth.
In the comics she was not a mutant and yes, she did get enhancements to revenge her father's techniques for the bonding process being stolen. Wether or not they were stolen is up to question, however.
I don't want to sound too down on the movies, I like the first one and I loved this one. I just have issue with the miss-use of Sabretooth, heh.
"Come on Hulk! Where's the old boasting? The battle cries? Why aren't you bellowing about how you're 'the strongest one there is'? Could it be because... you know it's not true?"
"No. Because it's just too obvious."

Lady Deathstrike was being mind controled in the movie. Nothing was known about her before wolverine murdered her except that she was a mutant with regen powers who was experimented on and was under mind control. As a mutant, would she have died when all mutants were killed by the professor. Was she a "good" mutant being used or a "bad" one. They saved nightcrawler, cyclops, and the professor. It's assumed that it's okay that she was murdered because she was a villian but I don't feel the movie proved she was evil without mind control. Not enough for capital punishment anyway.
I dont know for sure but wasnt Lady Deathstrike and Wolvie in love in the past? if thats true then i would have loved to see that in the movie, alonside Gambits scene, other than that it was a great one
Third Place Winner, Boneyards Contest. Huzzzah!

She wasn't murdered because she was a villain. She was killed because Wolvie doesn't play nice with people who try to kill him. She was tearing him up, and he had to finish her off fast. I'd hardly consider that capital punishment.
If someone was stabbing you repeatedly, mind-controlled or not, would you not act in self preservation?
Her name was Yuriko (I hope that's spelled right) and I'm not sure if she and Logan were married, but they were lovers. From what I remember, she went through the enhancements because she wanted revenge on Wolverine for killing her father, the creator of the bonding process. Hopefully we'll see sabertooth again in one of the future X-films.
fineberg go watch the movie again and pay attention next time. When wolverine was carrying to the kid to the blackbird after they left the base, his outfit was ripped and cut all over the place. The back of his costume looked like it had been shot with a shot gun (buck shot style), not to mention the huge gapping rips on his chest where u can see a hairy chest, not that I was looking for that mind you.
cyclops was out to annihilate jean grey. She saved him. logan knew about nightcrawler and sryker's use off mind control but he never tried to snap her out of it like jean did with scott. But then I guess wolverine wasn't interested in being a hero or a good person at the time since he abandoned the x men and the new mutants so he could go after stryker.
