I don't normally post about comics, but I just got done reading the Mike Wieringo tribute. The 4.99 for a What If had me leary however, since it goes to the HERO foundation I was all cool.
In the past I was a big fan of the NEW FF with Wolverine, Hulk, Spider-Man and Ghost Rider. Let me tell you this was an amazing run. I loved how they demolished super Skrull and put the hurt on Doom!!
I thought this was a fantastic issue (no pun intended) and a great tribute to one of my favourite artists. I had to go to a different comic shop to find a copy which is great news because it's a great story and the funds go to a great cause and the more people picking it up the better.
I was very happy with this comic as well. Also, check out an upcoming issue of Critical Hit Magazine for my "HOW TO" instructions on a kickin' NEW FF team!

This kind of comic is proof that nonsense like Secret Invasion, Final Crisis and other storylines are not necessary to attract fans. This was a great read and it was seperate of any "real" universe wide storyline. Fans want the characters they love not some new gimmic

While I certainly agree with your post, rock, I'm betting that, unfortunately, the sales figures will reflect a different story. SI will horribly outsell this book and the powers that be will interpret that into "we must be doing things right, look at the numbers", hence sentencing us to more and more of the Big Annual Summer Super-Crossover Event carp that we've been getting so much of recently. :disappoin

Also, in spite of the little label on it, it wasn't published by Marvel. It was actually published by the Hero Initiative which means it wasn't even listed in the Marvel section of comics when ordering a new shipment. A retailer easily could have missed the title, or ordered a fewer quantity because it technically isn't really a Marvel title.
