The Pull List, Episode 37: Sean Wins!
The Pull List, Episode 37: Sean Wins!
(0:55:13) Sean talks a lot this week as he has nearly twice as many
books as Craig. They both discuss TERRY MOORE'S ECHO #4, ASTONISHING X-MEN #25, and HELLBOY: THE CROOKED MAN #1 and Craig talks about the trade collection of the Hellboy meets Godzilla book, GIANTKILLER.

0:00:24 - Opening music [The Civilians - "Pop Chart Wannabe"]
0:01:11 - Introductions
0:02:25 - TERRY MOORE'S ECHO: The plot is coming together as "act I" ends, and Moore huddles with his audience.
0:11:26 - ASTONISHING X-MEN #25: With the new creative team at the helm, the X-Men become... crime scene investigators?
0:21:26 - HELLBOY: THE CROOKED MAN #1: Hellboy bears witness as a tale of witchcraft in the Appalachian backwoods unfolds.
0:27:50 - The Stacks
0:28:10 - CABLE #5 reminds Cable that he can travel through time.
0:29:14 - FABLES #74 tends to read more like an outline of a Fables story.
0:30:58 - Sean bought BRIT #7 for the cover, but may become a monthly reader.
0:32:27 - MANHUNTER #32 is good, but seems odd as a superhero story.
0:34:07 - Sean bought JONAH HEX #33 for the Cooke artwork, but found the story enjoyable too.
0:34:45 - AVENGERS/INVADERS #3 continues to be a fun, though average book with more Namor!
0:38:34 - The Legion gets no love in LEGION OF SUPERHEROES #43 except from Sean!
0:39:00 - WALKING DEAD #50 is good, but not to be confused with a landmark issue.
0:41:44 - NORTHLANDERS #7 winds down the Sven plot, but continues to be entertaining for Sean.
0:42:44 - Sean highly recommends ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN #7, but he suggests that you read the first six before.
0:44:27 - BATMAN #678 has Sean doing research and impressed him.
0:46:02 - Top of the Stacks: Sean - WALKING DEAD #50; Craig - HELLBOY: THE CROOKED MAN #1.
0:46:49 - Trade Ins: This week Craig tells us about the GIANTKILLER TPB by Dan Brereton, a must read for fans of giant monsters and a strong suggestion for fans of Hellboy.
0:53:41 - Next week: Craig - JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #17; Sean - JOKER'S ASYLUM: THE PENGUIN #1; and CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND THE MI13 #3.
0:54:52 - Ending music [The Civilians - "Pop Chart Wannabe"]
0:55:13 - End
Regarding Giantkiller (which I love)...you may have never seen it in 2006 because it actually came out in August of 1999 as 6 issues from DC. Brereton took it to Image, maybe DC wasn't interested in republishing it. Their loss, it's a boss book.
Giantkiller was a very strong book, but obviously written in to a corner. As the HCR #1 Godzilla and Kaiju fan, I can say it's a worthwhile read, even so. The field guide released for this story is very well read by myself and quite dogeared.
I like your show. It is motivating me to do my own show but strictly about clixs and clix related. I think your show is taking care of the comics, graphic novels, etc. Anyway I know that while this is likely a labor of love for you guys it is also a lot of work and I appreciate your efforts.
You keep making them and I'll keep checking them out !!! Thanks !!!

Oops! My lack of research is showing! Maybe Brereton brought everything over to Image, since I know this next week has that NOCTURNALS one-shot coming out from Image...
Thanks for the kind words; it is a labor of love for us, and while we'd still do it even if no one was listening, it's very gratifying to hear that others are enjoying it as well! ^_^
I would also be very eager to hear a clix-cast. I've been hoping someone would do one of those ever since Typhon mentioned we were looking for one.
If anyone's interested but doesn't know how to make a podcast, PM me! It's stupid easy, though there are a few trial and error things that I could probably give some advice on.
