I go straight 60, no more no less. The first magic tourney I played in , after taken a long breakfrom the game, I ran a 60 card deck while everyone else was doing the quick 40 card decks, I won every round and was ranked fairly high but midway through one of the veterans came to me and said he'd "fix" my deck and take it down to 40 cards. Long story short, I lost every match after that. Worst ccg related mistake I ever made.
To me, 60 just makes for a good solid number, so im sticking with a straight 60.
well i kno i will be running 61 cause im Irish, and right now im only a lvl one Irishmen. I need to get my lvl up so i have more luck. this means i have to drink more, start wearing only green, start a ton of fights, and rely on lucky items all the time. Such as a four leaf clover hear are the statistics.
lvl1. when you summon luck its 50% chance youl get it and 50% you opp or some one else will
lvl2. the stats are no 60%/40% in your favor
lvl3. the stats are now 70%/ 30% in your favor
lvl4. the stats are now 70%/ 30% in your favor, but you may now summon bad luck it has a 40% chance of success but it can hit any thing EVEN U!!
lvl5. the stats are now 80%/20% in your favor and 50% of success stil no aim
lvl6. the stats are now 80%/ 20% in your favor and 60% of sucess but from now on you can choose target.
lvl7. the stats are now 90%/ 10% in your favor and a 70% chance of success
lvl8. the stats are now 90%/10% in your favor and 80% chance
lvl9. the stats are now 90%/10% in your favor and 90% chance
lvl10. 100% both powers always work
by the time you hit lvl 10 you are an absolute miser with no equal. this takes years of work and dedication to the cause.
I generally play with 61 cards, but not for weird mathematical reasons.
When I began playing CCG's, I couldn't cut a card in a deck. Later, I wound up winning because me and the opponent got to a place to both deck out. I won because he had 60. It's just stuck since then. It may not be because its prime, but I think its lucky.
A Your deck plays fast and runs round numbers of cards. I like to do one thing and want to do it every time. Play 60
B Your deck is flexable and can handle any situation and has lots of 1 and 2 of in the deck. You may want that extra card cause now your deck can deal with one more threat.
C You don't know what your deck does, and you are still trying to figure it out. Run 70 cards and cut your way back to 60 or 61.....(this was a joke....so laugh damn you.
If you are just running the maths, then there is no power in prime numbers. Running a 61 card deck will mean that the chances of your drawing any particular card in your deck are very slightly reduced. If you run the numbers on this, it is not statistically significant, but it is a fact nonetheless.
The reason that I run 60 isn't particularly because there is a downside to running more (which there patently is, regardless of how small), it is simply because while there is a tiny downside, there is even less upside. There will always be a 'worst' card in your deck. If your deck has more than 60 cards, keep taking out that 'worst' card until you have 60. Save indecisively deciding to have everything for when you are picking something on the dessert menu.
60 is the best number unless you are running a ton of tutors and that 61st card is searchable tech for a certain match-up. But in WoW there is a side deck, so I don't think theres any reason to go over the standard 60.
-If you play with people that count your deck as they shuffle it, and you happen to be missing a card, then playing 61 cards helps you avoid them noticing.
-If you happen to cheat, and want to ensure you draw that 61st card every game, and can 'luck' it to the top of your deck (easier when your opponent thinks your full deck is in front of them).
-If the card has a pretty, pretty picture, and the elves will be sad if you cut it.
-Perhaps you live in Rand McNally? I hear in Rand McNally they play 61 card decks.
Hehe. I spy misuse of the term "statistically significant".
Chance of drawing at least one of a particular 4-of in your opening hand in a 60-card deck: 39.95%
Chance of drawing at least one of a particular 4-of in your opening hand in a 61-card deck: 39.40%
I want my half a percent =D
I do too, that is why I run 60 cards in all of my decks. Plus, you have the ability to sideboard in cards, so if you think you are going to need a particular card for a matchup, then you can sideboard it in during the match.
