William recently previewed three new Traitor spells from the Black Temple raid deck on wowtcg. Today, I’d like to briefly talk about the other six and how they might fit into the current environment. This isn’t going to be very in depth. I really just wanted to get pictures of the new cards out to you since some people haven’t had the chance to visit their local game shop to purchase the new Raid decks. But maybe you pick something up that will help you win Worlds in October or the Realms Championship in November.
We will have all the Black Temple cards in the database sometime today. But while you wait for that, click Full Story and check out some of the new cards!
Fel Geyser – Wow! Suddenly your opponent’s quests now require then to have another face up one in order to complete. Am I reading that right? If it had said, “Opposing quests have ‘When you complete this quest, turn another face down’” it would have given your opponent options. Sure, that option would be play cards face down and only one quest at a time face up but that wouldn’t have been the end of the world. But as it is now they can’t even complete a quest if it is the only one face up.
Aura of Anger – While I love this card I just can’t seem to build any deck that doesn’t run a Holy Pally. I mean, Holy Shock is just so good. But, coupled with cards like Consecration, Crusader’s Sweep, Divine Plea (enabled by this very card!) it might be a pretty cool card to try to fit into a weenie deck. Consecration probably costs too much. At four, Divine Plea seems fine but not overwhelmingly good. What are we left with? Crusader’s Sweep, costing three resources, seems like a pretty good deal. It just seems like we are trying too hard though. Obviously I am trying to be greedy and I want to attack lots of dudes on my opponent’s side of the board with +1s. But honestly, one attack from Offender Gora on the turn one gets us going. Imagine following that play on the next turn with Aura of Anger and another Offender Gora! Hello six damage! Seven if you swing with your hero who gets to battle without even having a weapon.
Fel-Acid Breath – It costs two and does six damage. I don’t think you can play it unless your opponent actually has three dudes in play. And even then, the odds of killing all three are not that great. I am sure said opponent will cleverly divide the damage in a way to keep as many dudes as he can. I just don’t see it getting played Lightning Arc is so much better. Still, it is six damage for two.
Needle Spine – I kind of like this card. But only marginally. It doesn’t kill Bloodsouls or Doshuras and only really shines when paired with other cards. Right off the top of my head, I think this would be awesome with cards like Rogg Dreadnock. Unfortunately that guy would always be a target anyway, but you could live the dream, protect him some how and start picking off almost any attacking ally.
Tidal Burst – The upside to this card is simply limitless. I see so many situations where it would be absolutely insane. Unfortunately those situations involve some old school game that involves King Magni or maybe some game where Lady Vashj is running wild and the tokens are piling up. It might be a decent Blast Wave type affect in non-fire decks. There are actually quite a few decks that play multiple two drops.
Arcing Smash – A recent Realm qualifier winner ran a warrior deck with about fourteen equipment that cost two resources. Obviously this card has the potential to be very devastating. I think even it gets you a two for one, it deserves a look for at least a couple of sideboard slots.
Dave what the hell? I am happy to see you writing and gaming again! I just happened to see your on the mother site today and I came here and noticed you have been writng here for a while. I don't think we ever met but I allways read your articles on metagame.com and VS. Realms. I always loved your sense of humor as well. But anyway I play wow quite a bit these days myself, so it's good to see this site get such a shot in the arm, thanks for all the updates and the additional traitor info. Now I am off to read the rest of your articles.

So, what do you think about WoW? It's becoming more and more like Vs with every release. Locations are out and protectors sort of give us the front row/support row element. I doubt we ever see threshhold but it would be awesome if there was some kind Terraforming effect.
Anyways, glad to see you over here on WoWRealms. And thanks for the comments. We have a lot of work to do here. And so do I. Hardly anyone knew who I was at Continentals and that just can't happen. :-)
My favorite thing about vs is the many ways to punish opponents while they attacked you, and it seems wow has taken steps to make those options cheaper and more diverse for most classes. Plus like vs, the majority of the time the better player is going to win. I think that wow will last way longer than vs because the game engine is a bit less headache inducing to most players. Plus the evil geniouses at wow tgc were smart enough to include the loot cards. With millions of online players, the sets will continue to sell out. We just have to grow the actual player base a bit. I think this game is very addictive...so mabe it is just a matter of getting players to try it.
PS no one knew you? It hasn't been that long...So get out there, start kicking *** and make those jerks remember lol.
