For a piece I used so regularly when it came out (the 80ptr) I completely forgot about the guy. The real value of the 80 pt version is that people would so regularly underestimate him and ignore him.
It was fun to have him near an object and use TK as a weapon.
The old Ultra-Humanite was the one figure to which I always tried to attach Nanobots. The long dial, ability to maneuver objects (with both TK and Super Strength) as well as Leap/Climb meant that as a villain he could usually stick around much longer than expected.
I'm not sold of the new U-H. A tad too pricey, which is the downfall of many a "Mastermind".
I love the older version but the newer does bring the pain!

The old one is a staple of my Monkey team with Gorilla Grodd, Detective Chimp and Mallah.

"Victim? Victim? Do you think this letter on my chest stands for AMERICA?" - you have been getting insulted by nextwave.
Never put it to use, but once the Outwit disappeared on the old Humanite, Pounce gave him a mean mid-dial.
I tried that a few times. It worked really well.
Once he's sort of had his usefulness at the start of game as an outwitter/tker push him to TK an object or something and then go to town with the Pounce.

U Ultra-Humanite was one of the last figures I needed to complete my Unleashed set. I try to make it a point to use every figure at least once, but haven't been able to force myself to use the original Ultra Humanite yet; his defence values are are too abysmal, and I generally like to bring my figures with Outwit into the thick of battle (rather than as TK support).
No argument that the updated Ultra Humanite is a superior figure. Psychic Blast + Outwit is always a deadly combination, and the Indomitable ability is yet another great weapon!
I got beatdown today with and ultra-humanite animal based theme team today. It was 400 points constructed. I don't remember all of his feats but his team was this:
Ultra-Humanite
Peotor super ape
Manbat assasin
Howard the Duck
Mr. Mind + mental shields
It was a very nice team and I think he went 2-1 with it.
Aaaah thanks for the (as usual) great review, Grodd coming next spells Gorilla season then. Old U-H was a big disappointement to me when it was released, but ended being keyworded good enough to be a staple in many of my Theme teams (mostly Secret Society Of Super-Villians...OK, I NEVER win with this one, still it's fun to play).
New one is just...beautiful. So good I could actually kiss it an rub my fingers in its soft white hairs (hope my wife won't read this). Brutality made into clix. OK, less brutal than old Despero (mostly because being more expensive), but still a great combination of Range/Close Combat offense.
Next week-end, to celebrate the New Year, we're doing an afternoon long scenario with some friends...I've betted that U-H will crush Dr Doom, so I can't wait to play it again...and again...and again...
I believe the whole idea behind using Ultra-Humanite is being unexpected...making pieces such at this guys 2 versions useful is something I love to do and will get me a nice win a good amount of the time...
The old Ultra-Humanite...beastly...with Perplex...and Support....and lots of room still left for other things...you use that Outwit and Leap/Climb to mess people up...throw opponents and allies around....and then when he has Super Strength...whoever is weakened or Perplexed down defense or put some PC around (or just use loaded dice...just kidding) let him destroy people unexpectedly...
The new one you should put with some cheap heavy guns...the likes of Winter Soldier, Shang Chi and Ronin.....even Mockingbird...I forget who they are for DC....but you just let him take down groups of small useful pieces while you let them do the rest of the work.....or send him in to mess up their beatstick.....basically he's always taking on half the team....plus you've got to be able to pull those few unexpected moves out of his hat.....random Mind Control when the opponent thought you were going for damage...or some annoying TK while you regroup and stick that Doomsday in hindering...
anyways that's just my say....these are the kinds of pieces I prefer playing over what's obvious...because it shoots through what the opponent is expecting...anyone can play Superman....
