Originally posted by tchipley Those 200+ figs will be hard to put on a 300 point team and you are probably right about their appearance dropping off. I'm hoping for a revision of the tourney rules to allow for 400 point builds. Then we will definitely see them again. If not maybe I'll buck the trend and see if I can keep them rerunning in "syndication." (Cheesy pun I know. It had to be done.)
Why would you wait to change the standard build total? Didn't Unleashed and Ultimates kind of make 400 pts a requirement?

I am a huge DC fan: Hypertime is the worst set. Fun to play but lots of really bad pieces. Thankfully ICONS is on its way.
I'm not saying, HT is the best thing since sliced bread......but it does have tournament worthiness..more than it is given credit for.
Sometimes people need to look past the cut-throat level of play, to see that some figures are worth their weight in gold.

Originally posted by Darth Sabre Other than that, I just basically expanded on things that you had posted. So what exactly is the deal? If you want to get caught up on the value of HT, then so be it. But at least read an understand what I stated about it, before turning this into something it's not.
The deal. As I quoted. You had said, I said you were wrong. Which I didnt say.
You are not trying to rate things but you rate Hypertime higher in catogeries. Which means you rated it.
You keep bringing up the general public as it pertains to me. Because you would rate DC Character Recoginition Higher then a 9. Which I gave my reasons for it and you still trying to argue it.

What I did, was simply comment on what you stated, never really pointing out what I feel you did wrong, because it is your opinion. Looking back, this was the only thing I actually questioned you on:
What you did was say one thing but meant something else. A lot of it was just the way of the internet. It just seems like you got a lot of what I said wrong. I quoted what you said. Your argueing that you didnt say it. Yet you did.
Originally posted by hpmccoy Cool review, I've been looking for something like this to guide which sets I go after, or at least in what order I try to finish them off. So I appreciate the effort and a lot of the comments.
This illustrates one of the problems I have with Manchine's original review.
Manchine's review doesn't take into account retired sets. It doesn't even mention Universe. And it reads as kind of a mix, sometimes ranking sets based on how well they perform today versus how well they have performed in the past. As such, I don't think it offers much guidance as to what sets a new player should buy.

No, now you are wrong, because you aren't reading what I said, but making it into what you want it to be.

Wrong again, just providing a different perspective. I didn't rate anything, yet. But sit tight sparky, I'm about to.

Yet again, you are wrong. But since you insist, then here you I would rate HT recognition at least equal to--because more of those characters have been exposed to the general public by means other than comic books. Because as you have stated in the past , you have spent most of your time reading Marvel, which means the majority of your exposure has been to Marvel Characters.

I think you need just need to learn how to read a little better. As obviously you have no clue what I meant.

I tried to steer away from personal bias as well as using opinion like character recognition to rate them. Be warned it is long, but I'd like to think of it as fairly accurate.
True, bias will always come into play. I'm just saying that using the criteria I selected, I tried to minimize the amount of bias included.
I did look at your ranking and was surprised at the results. The only one that I think is "off" from your point of view is the Universe ranking. Of the six you took, those six were probably the six from the starter deck, right? How many figures that you picked from Xplosion and Infinity Challenge are included in Universe...that would be a more telling percentage, than the 5% you had. As it is, you were taking the six figures that are only available in Universe, a 6/6, or 100% outlook. To give Universe a fair ranking to go with the rest of them, and to provide a more accurate outlook for people who don't have access to the earlier sets, and only Universe, you should include the figs as I said above in the rankings. It would be interesting to see the outcome with that in mind.
Originally posted by Manchine I thought the same of you. Since you obviously didnt get it and are still not getting it. Oh well, at l wasnt putting anyone down. Unlike someone.
Well, I apologize, as I did not mean to put you down. But its obvious that we are having communication issues, and this issue is just best left alone.
Yggmannaz> Never thought of looking at Universe in that light, but I will go back and do that now.

How do you judge a set? This is the biggest question that everyone faces. Everyone has a different opinion. Some are based off the Comic companies (DC or Marvel). Some are based off specific teams (JSA or XMen). Personally I judge a set far differently then most. I know this. I come up with very different views then the Majority of Hero Clix Players. I know this.
I write up a ranking, every so often. It usually leads to a lot of discussion good and bad. I rank the sets according to my preferences, which I have listed below. Everyone's Preference will be different, so remember that much. It goes from the most important to the least important.
A) Character recognition. Do you recognize the figures? This is by far the most important thing any set has to deal with. If you don't like the characters you wont like the set. Each person experiences will be different.
B) Your Play style. Take this however you want. I play a lot theme teams. Even during tournaments. 90 percent of my teams are Villain only teams. How well a set adds on to your specific play style.
C) Character Uniqueness. Are there Figures that stand out from the rest of the set? Is there something special that normal figures don't do. This is more important for the REV's and not the Uniques because you will see these more then any other figures.
D) Tournament Worthiness. Does the set do well when playing in a Tournament? Do you instinctively grab for a specific set? To some people this is important to others its not so important.

I Should redo this and add in all the new sets. It will be interesting how the test of time has held up to all the older sets. =)
