So Carlos is running a thread on Worst revamps/image changes. I thought we ought to have one for best costume/image changes ever.

For me

1. Black Costume Spider-man - as he said, it's easy to like this one. It's less busy styling makes for a really great costume change I wish they'd of stuck with
2. Thor, current - He looks more like a warrior now, and less like a Fabio impressario
3. Energy Wonderman - never cared for any of his old costumes, but the Ionized Form was neat and different.
4. Brown and Orange Wolverine - This is my favorite Wolverine Costume.

The Inverse Color Bizarro Instead of just the inverse symbol.

Yeah.

Spidey's Black costume(I love it on his almost as much as I love the original)
Wolverine's current costume(I don't think Logan needs to ever get a new look costume-wise ever again at this point)
Cyclops' current costume(very sleek and a definite improvement over the Morrison look)
Cyclops' costume from the beginnings of what is now "X-Men Legacy"(also used on the old Fox cartoon)
Batman in black and gray, with no yellow oval around the bat emblem
Nightwing's most recent costume
Iron Man's Extremis armor
Rogue's '90s look(yellow and green bodysuit, brown leather jacket)
Emma Frost's Generation X 'costume'

Emma Frost's invisible X-bra is a highlight.

And as much as I love Robin's little fairy boots and panties, the newer Robin costume(s) are a massive improvement.

Emma is definitely someone whose costume has only improved over it's original format.

She used to have another uniform in the Avengers 70's 80's that I read.

While this isn't a major character, I was wildly impressed with Batroc the Leaper's newer outfit in the recent Captain America. They took a character who is, in many ways, inherently silly, and removed the silliest element, his skin-tight costume. The replacement was great not only because it looked much cooler, but because it incorporated the colors and basic design elements of the original so well that the character was still recognizably Batroc even to the old-school fans.

When Thing tore off the F4 bodysuit and helmet in the first costumed Fantastic Four outing. Beat that for improvement.


Zatanna's post-aqua-bodysuit-- it's not the fishnets, but it was a pretty cool look (the one the JL Clix is based on).

Green Arrow's late 60's/70's/80's costume, a big step up from his original drab one.

Most of the 1970s LSH costumes, designed by Dave Cockrum and Mike Grell.

Surely you are not including the Cosmic Boy costume of that era, are you?

As goofy as it is, though, I would love to see a sculpt of that for Heroclix.

I must respectfully disagree on the Spidey costume. While the black one is fine, and would have been great with a completely new character if there wasn't already a Spider, it just doesn't beat the classic red/blue costume. I still give Ditko massive props for that design. It's so unlike anything else that it's amazing. It's just such an awesome design.

Love the blue and red one of course, but It just look so dinamic the black one in the comics.
