I'm not reading it on protest. I read Morrisson's Death of Batman and followed that story for a year, just to learn that he doesn't die and I have to buy a different series to follow him to his death. Homie don't play dat.
So that's why I'm not reading anyway. But I've been keeping up with the chat around here and on other sites.
So the idientity of the new Batman has been leaked and I've been reading that thread and have to say
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
I really think that Tim should have been the next Batman. Dick Grayson is now a hero in his own right. Nightwing has forged his own path and I really don't think that Dick should have gotten the mantle. To me that's like Falcon should have gotten the Captain America mantle. Just don't think it works.
Anyway, what's gotten me confused is talk of two Nightwings?
I absolutley agree. This type of writer retardo logic that got me to stop reading the majority of my subscriptions. If I want to read something I do it in TPB or Graphic Novel Format. It Seems Dc is treating Batman like Marvel did Spidey and Wolverine. Your Dollars lets them know what you think so always keep that in mind.

Just finished reading Battle for the Cowl #3. I know that the whole issue was from Dick's POV, but the last few pages made me think about who actually DID put the cowl on. It didn't show Dick actually putting on the cowl, so at this point I'm NOT assuming it's Dick (until the next issue of Batman actually confirms it).
If you look closely, the "inner voice" boxes have colors that correspond to whoever's talking. When it's Tim, the color's red. If it's Jason, it's black. For Dick, it's blue. The box color for the new Batman is grey. So for me, Battle for the Cowl didn't really answer the question "Who is the new Batman?". Am I reading too deeply into this?
BTW, if Tim becomes Red Robin, they better have a good explanation on why he has to change his costume. I just think it's kinda dumb to change his costume and then add "Red" at the beginning for no good reason (what, just so Damien can be Robin? They should just kill that character off. He's so irritating.) If it were up to me, Jason Todd will be Red Robin, Tim the new Bats (even though he's too short to be the new Bats), and Dick should remain Nightwing.
The other Nightwing is in Action Comics. He's Chris Kent, the Kryptonian boy Clark and Lois adopted (the real son of Zod). Nightwing was originally the name of a Kandorian Superhero, so this makes some sense.
Myself, I can't wait for Morrison to do Dick and Damien as Batman and Robin. It looks like it's going to be utterly wild.
I don't know, I somehow got the feeling that Jason felt that his task was to get Nightwing to wear the cowl, he needed to make Grayson understand that there needs to be a Batman. And he did just that.
