Oh, and I'll just clear.

Actually, according to several "rules of combat" threads, it was changed in the player's guide.

Looking it up on the wizkids site, this is true.

Though, in this case (and many cases as it turns out, between trying to get off Beast Boy's activation click or trying to move Terra onto her more high powered clicks) I'd just as soon not have the die roll at all.

Roll is a 1, so Raven will in fact take a click.

I don't know what all this "at the begining of an action" business is though.

1) Raven tries to heal Terra but gets a critical miss. Out of curiousity, I rolled the dice again. Snake eyes. 1 to Terra and 1 to Raven. Being counterproductive here.

2) Terra begrudgingly takes Raven and flies her boulder to U15, putting Raven at U14.

I can't believe it came that close, after you took down, Shiva and Alpha so handily I thought for sure this game was in the can for you.

But your dice really failed you at the end.

I can't get to your in my last turn to make an attack, so that's game.

I was just surprised I took them down at all.

As much as Terra is really hard to use on paper, she always seems to land on that 9 attack 4 damage pulsewave click and with a Titans swam running around, she can usually get a good shot or two off.

Thanks for the game, Turtle. Sorry about cutting and running a bit at the end but if the Titans all got koed, I'd have been pretty much forced to take the story in a very sad direction. If one of them had gone down...who can say?

“Hang on!” Terra shouted, launching her boulder into the air. Raven was the only other Titan left and she clung desperately on all fours to the huge mass of rock. Lightning and earth flew as Bolt teleported around the girls trying to blast them. Over the sound of the explosions, Raven could hear sirens. She doubted that the police would be much help against Bolt but any backup would be welcome at this point. The boulder landed. Raven felt sick to her stomach. Terra raised her arms and let out a yell. Two great pillars of earth flew at the electric assassin but he shattered them with more bolts of lightning.

“I can’t say it hasn’t been fun, Terra. You’re getting better,” the villain chuckled, grabbing his friends’ unconscious bodies. “See you around.”

In a flash of light, the assassins were gone. Terra screamed at the disappearing villains and punched the ground, causing the earth to shake and Raven’s stomach to give another turn.

“They’re gone,” the girl said flatly.

“So it would seem,” Raven sighed.

“Hey, why don’t you heal me? I got roughed up a bit and I’m all tired now.”

“As an experienced healer, trust me when I say that you don’t need my help,” Raven brushed the dirt off her costume and looked down at Terra.

“But what if they come back? Half our guys are nearly down for the count! You need someone at full strength to hold them off.”

“Fine!” Raven snapped. She walked over to her younger teammate and put her hands on her shoulder, but instead of taking all of Terra’s pain and exhaustion, Raven felt something else entirely. Even though her eyes were closed, her vision went red. Her skin burned and the red she saw moved to form flames and Raven could see the shadows of demons playing in them. The heat became worse and worse. She could feel the fire on her, burning her skin black but it would not stop. The flames parted and Raven knew what to expect next.

The face of her father, Trigon the demon conqueror of hell, came into sight. Raven thought she heard herself scream before realizing it was Terra’s voice.

“You b####!” Terra punched Raven in the face, knocking her back. The vision was gone now. Yelling, Terra jumped on top of Raven and started hitting her in the face until a green octopus managed to pull her off.

“Lemme go, Logan! You don’t know what she did to me!”

“You’re gonna have to chill out, Tara.”

Raven spat blood before standing back up and dusting her robes off. The girl had almost knocked out one of her teeth.

“Indeed.”

Terra’s muscles relaxed, though her scowl did not. Beast Boy let the girl back onto the ground. She gave Raven a dirty look. Raven didn’t say a word. She didn’t know what had happened, but whatever it was she was sure that it had to do with whatever darkness she had felt in Terra before. Perhaps she could not heal evil people. Or perhaps she was losing her battle with Trigon and it was only a matter of time before she brought more pain than relief. Terra turned to walk away but Gar tapped her on the shoulder.

“You know, you’re kinda cute when you’re angry.”

Terra gave a harrumph and stepped back onto her boulder as a pair of police cruisers pulled up. The mass of earth lifted into the sky and sailed away, back towards Titans Tower.

“Nice shiner she gave you, Rave.”

“It will pass,” Raven answered

The pair quickly examined their teammates. Good. None of them were badly hurt. They could wait for the paramedics to arrive. Raven didn’t want to touch anybody.

“What do you mean he said no?” the red headed villain by the name of Shimmer asked.

“He said that he didn’t want our help and that he’d kill us if we got in the way. He could probably do it too,” Gizmo explained.

“I doubt that,” Shimmer turned to look at the dwarf. Her black painted lips curved upwards in a mock smile. “So when do we go after those kids? I like to finish what I start.”

“Hello? What part of ‘he said he’d kill us’ did you not understand?”

“Psimon, back me up here.”

“My dear, I’m afraid I agree with our adroit friend. While I may be able to boil the Demon Head's blood in his veins, this doesn’t protect me in the least of I do not see him coming. And our... friend can certainly strike in such a way that one does not see it coming.”

“I never took you for a coward, Psimon,” Shimmer’s eyes narrowed. She didn’t seem to find this amusing anymore.

Psimon entertained the idea of forcing the woman to eat her own arm but decided that he enjoyed her company too much on most days to maim her now. Plus it would mean a confrontation with Mammoth and his pretty little group would dissolve completely. He could rob a bank just fine on his own but it helped to have friends to watch one’s back.

“There is a difference between cowardice and simple logic. If we cross the League, there is not a chance of ending up dead. There is a near certainty of it happening. It would be foolish,” Jinx nodded in agreement with Psimon.

“Fine. Come, Baran. Let’s go find some newer, braver friends to help us kill the Titans,” she sneered. Mammoth grunted, picked up his sister and put her on his shoulder before stomping towards the door.

“Why do you even care?” Psimon sighed.

“Hmm?”

“Why do you even care? You fought the Titans one time and you won. They didn’t ruin your life. They didn’t even put you in jail. The only reason you went after them the first time is because I said I’d pay you for it. You’re being unreasonable.” Shimmer laughed, which greatly annoyed Psimon. Mammoth joined in, though he didn’t fool the others; Baran Flinders had no idea what he was laughing at.

“I’m not being unreasonable, Psi. I just want what’s mine. You never paid us for helping you kill the Titans.”

“Silly me. I don’t feel that paying someone for killing is very good business when the target is STILL ALIVE!”

Shimmer grinned wickedly at this outburst. “And now you know why I have to kill them. Let’s go, Baran.”

“I rescind my offer!” Psimon shouted after them.

“Have our money ready when we get back, sweetie. Hahahahaha!”

"Hahahahaha!" the hulking Mammoth joined in. There was no question that he knew what he was laughing at now. He liked money, but he liked killing people more.

Roy waited with Lian at the police station. Cheshire he didn’t care about her, or at least not anymore he told himself, but the child didn’t deserve to go through this alone. The girl looked a lot like her mother. Same black hair, same slightly darker skin tone and diluted Asian features. The most striking feature, though, were her blue eyes. They looked just like his. Could she really be…? It didn’t matter. He had to make sure she was taken care of personally. He was a hero and heroes weren’t supposed to abandon kids.

An older police officer approached the two. Lian didn’t pay him much notice and continued to play with her Superman doll. The child seemed to be amazingly calm for a girl who just had her mother arrested. Roy hoped she was just too young to understand.

“Hey,” the officer said. “You’re Arsenal, right? The Teen Titan?”

“We’re just the Titans now, but yeah that’s me,” he answered, standing up and shaking the officer’s hand.

“Well, she’s all yours,” The cop smiled at Lian who stopped playing with her toy. “Try not to cause too much trouble for him.” The girl tilted her head to the side and looked up at Roy, not quite sure what to make of this new development.

“Wait-- what do you mean she’s all mine?” Arsenal asked.

“Oh, she didn’t tell you? Miss Nguyen, Cheshire, signed custody over to you.”

Custody? Why would Cheshire do a thing like that? She said she hated him - that she wanted to see him dead. Besides, he didn’t know how to take care of a kid.

“You are the father… aren’t you?”

Father? Ha! Roy wasn’t sure he’d recognize a father if he saw one but he was still pretty sure he didn’t fit the bill.

“Uh… yeah,” Roy rubbed the back of his neck, not really sure what to do next. This was a bad idea. “Well, kid. Looks like you’re stuck with me.”

“You’ll make sure the bad people don’t get me?”

“Yeah. No bad people will get you as long as I’m around.”

I promise, he added to himself.

“Can we have ice cream?”

“Yeah, come on Etai Yazi. Let’s go get some ice cream.”
