I'm really dissapointed with Batman Blackest Night 2.
I was hoping too much from this book maybe. Like a great battle against Deadman and Black Lantern Deadman, more explanations of how body and soul can be divided and from where come the personality inside Black Lantern Deadman if his soul is in other place. Many good stuff could had been done, insthead of that we got lot of popcorn battle only. That is ok for an "army" book like Green Lantern Corps. But for a Batman book I hope for a lot more story.
Well for me the reason I appreciate the story is not because of the "Oh wow Shiny" factor of the black lanterns and more of the fact that it focused on regular people like emergency Personel and Police officers. The Scenes where officers get murdered as they they try desperately to defend themselves was just heart wrenching for me.
I couldn't even be moved to care about the police officers. They were redshirts. I only even remember one of them having a line. They're clearly just there to show the reader that normal humans don't stand a chance and to heighten the sense of danger for Gordon and Babs. They were only set dressing for me, I'm afraid.

See, I enjoyed Titans due to the character interactions. The new Hawk trying to prove herself, the mind games that Hawk plays on the curent Hawk and Dove, Beast Boy's grief over Terra, Donna's grief over her child, the matter of how individuals deal with grief...
I have not read a Titans comic in my life, and my knowledge of them comes from the Teen Titans cartoon and wikipedia. However, this single issue of this miniseries makes me care about the characters, so the issue was a good one for me.
You know what though? I did still enjoy reading the Batman tie-in, I just didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the others. Glad to see that Tomasi is hitting the mark for some of you. I'm enjoying his work in Green Lantern Corps much more right now.

Just because his body doesn't have a soul doesn't mean it can't be reanimated. It's still got something of his brain left, afterall. And a mind is a terrible thing to waste.
He's not a brainless body like Pam Anderson or Paris Hilton.
Cool stuff. Connor's mixed legacy continues to play a big part (and is funny), he goes on a date with Wonder Girl (accompanied by Krypto) and Lex Luthor finds out he's still alive. The Legion backup was okay because it reveals that Mekt Ranzz may in face have a twin. Also, Manapaul rocks the artwork. It's a shame he's leaving but it's cool he's jumping aboard the Flash series. Check out this stuff.
A darn shame indeed. Manapul on these Smallville scenes has been exquisite. And what a scene stealer Krypto has been.
Yeah, I know the in-story reason for this to go so slow, but that's not what I was talking about. When I referred to it as excrutiating, I was talking about the excrutiating number of issues of the same schtick over and over again that DC is milking us for to get to the point.
I was OK with a couple of issues of this, but we now have at least 5 comics worth of Rise! Rise! slaughter, slaughter, battery increase, battery increase. Yeah, we get it. We ALL get it. Now, please, if there is an actual story here somewhere, can we move forward from that point?
Thank you for summing up my mixed feelings about Blackest Night.
I dunno. I suspect the spirits of these bodies running amok are going to help put an end to them.
