This may have no place on a forum specifically designed to explain the OFFICIAL rules, not the made up free-for-all ones we happily describe as house rules.
I admit, I play house rules. There are some rules and loopholes that, whilst making perfect sense in terms of the game, just irritate me so much that I and my friends change them to our liking. This may fundamentally ruin the fabric of the game, it may make a mockery of clix points costs, as we change their powers however we please, but dammit, there is no way I’m playing it so that black cat can dodge a psychic blast – I mean, does she duck? It’s psychic!
So I’m basically asking what house rules anyone uses, just out of curiosity.
Here’s mine:
As above supersenses (and the dodging portion of impervious) can’t be used against ‘mental’ attacks like mind control or psychic blast.
Impervious (or rather the damage soaking portion of it) DOES affect damage from poison, energy explosion, pulse wave and any other powers that don’t specifically target the character with impervious. Basically, if Superman’s stood next to robin and robin gets energy exploded, the blast still doesn’t hurt Supes because he’s still Superman.
Pulsewave DOES affect stealth figures in hindering terrain. Because it just does. I mean, c'mon.
There’s probably more, but that’s all I can think of at the moment. I’m not suggesting that these are or even should be official rules. There just ones I play to make the game more fun for me.
Anybody else flagrantly make up their own rules for the sake of comic sense?
Sorry about the potty mouth - slip of the keyboard.
I think I must have meant Catwoman rather than Black Cat. I know one of them cat ladies has it and was so quick and nimble that Brainiac couldn't psychic blast her. ???
So I'm interested - what house rules have the rest of you invented, and why?
No dupes is another one we use. In fact I don't think anyone has ever even brought up the idea of using 2 of the same character.
We also tend to ignore the rule on not using AEs on the same team (on th very rare occasion it comes up). The 'logic' being that just about every hero has at some point had to team up with his archenemy to fight a common foe. So why not in clix. That said - it's rare even that we don't play all-hero or all-villain teams, let alone have Bats and Joker teaming up.
No ranged combat in base to base. We also always have line of sight as a two-way street (excepting stealth, of course), but didn't realise that this was probably a house rule until recently.
1. No dupes (of course).
2. Flash Rules. Either Flash may run across water (but if he stops on it, regular rules apply). Either Flash may run up the side of a building at a 'cost' of three squares of movement.
3. Water rules. An aquatic characters moves across water twice as fast as on land. An aquatic characters gains Deflection when on a water square.
4. Smoke clouds can be moved through but block line of sight.
1. No named dupes.
2. No perplex stacking. 1 stat can be increased 1 time via perplex.
3. You don't 1/2 your movement when walking from hindering when your first step is in clear terrain.
4. Grounded figures don't block LOS to elevated figs, no matter where they are.

-Outwit can only affect someone within the outwitters range. (Fear Veteran Mandarin)
-Someone who is about to be taxied away has to make a breakaway roll for each character adjacent, even if the taxi is not adjacent to anyone. Taxiing was meant to bring people into combat, not run back to a medic. This does not apply to TKer's.
-Juggernaut and Hulk can throw objects, even with battle fury.
-Juggernaut, Hulk, Blob, and a couple others have a power I call "ram". Hindering terrain does not affect these characters. It's like L/C, only without jumping on buildings part. You all can help in assembling a list of characters that would have it. (I mean, is a shrubbery really going to stop Juggernaut?)
-Souaring characters can make ranged attacks at half their length. (read any comic with Hobgoblin {favorite villain of all time, why did they have to screw him up?})
-Anyone who brings a Blob painted nude gets kicked in the junk by all participants of that night's event.
Tell me what you think.
