"Wild card was a stupid thing to go with to begin with."
"Thunderbolts made it even more broken"
/understatements
I'll echo many of the keyword sentiments of the podcast but with my own spin:
"Snapshot" vs. "Living List": I favor living list, even though it would be impossible to expect any keyword updates more than once annually. My feeling is this: If I want to build a particular comic team, and there are multiple versions of a character available (all with practically the same power sets) I ought to be able to pick the character that fits my team the best.
For example: First Class Cyclops is a great figure, but I think it's stupid that it's the figure that goes with my Secret War "X-Men" team, rather than the starter X-Men.
Generic Keywords: I'd be fine with them, if they weren't allowed to cross comic companies. I say this despite my own interest in using mods on "Teen" bases to augment my Legion of Super-Heroes tackle box. Generic keywords are little more than another min-max tool.
Personally, I think the "theme team re-rolls" is too confusing (especially compared to Probability Control). I don't know why Prob Control was chosen over either Outwit or Perplex.

I use keywords all the time, but just the Non-generic ones. Things like detective, teen, scientist and mystic are too easy to min/max out. On the other hand, using a good non-generic team feels great when you win. I like the map roll bonus and the pc granted. I also allow players to use current rosters for the theme team bonus, like the most recent Mighty Avengers. Last week I saw a great League of Assasins and Apocalypse team. It's nice that most of the players I play with go non-generic as well.
I think since there are no "OP" officials anymore, some of that should be "in house". Again though it brings problems when traveling from venue to venue. Most of the players I know though are regulars at all the same venues so it's usually not an issue.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but to assume yours is the absolute truth is pretty arrogant. I respect the fact you don't like generic keywords but alot of people do. I think alot of generic kwords are fun and infact I would like to see more generic keywords. Even though that is my opinion I don't think I am absolutely correct. I wouldn't say that if WK/NECA doesn't create more generic keywords "they are a bunch of idiot, moron, stupid heads". Come on man you are better than that and smarter than that.
I love and appreciate the work you guys do. You are busy people who create something fun to expand my clix world keep up the good work.

Well one thing Gudda is passionate about it building cool teams. Keywords help build those teams sometimes. Generic Keywords though sometimes break that formula. I agree with both ya guys. I see where Gudda is coming from and I see where you are coming from. He feels very strongly on what direction the game should go. I for one would like to see NECA/WIZKIDS leave the rules alone for a bit.

Do you think if I had a middle of the road , everything is fine out look on things people would want to listen to our casts..... I dont see us as informative as much as entertaining. I am sure people disagree alot .. but i want ears ... angry ears are just as good as agreeable ears ... .im pretty definitive on my opinions .... Generic Keywords do suck ... they where a bad idea from the get go. You can play the game how ever you want I dont care ... My opinion is not better , Just more people get to hear it !
I've written this before: "Generic" teams, i.e. characters with a common background/power set, are (in the comics) are more likely to get their butts kicked that "non-Generic" teams.
What's more: it's RARE that you see such teams in comics. Here are the ones I can think of:
Scientists: In 52, the "Oolong Island" crew was essentially a generic keyword team....and what is their record? 1-1?
Mystical: It seems like every Crisis (CoIE, FC, IC, Lo3W) there is gathering of mystics, and I think EVERY time they get handed their butts in their hats/turbans/tiaras/hoods.
Police: I haven't read GCPD, but was there ever a "case" in the comics where a Police team solved a problem without the assistance of an outside hero?
Spy: The only "spy" team that comes to mind is the one assembled for Nick Fury's Secret War...and that mission was SNAFU. Every other covert action comic book that I can think of has been an actual team (SHIELD, JL, Suicide Squad, Danger Girls, et al.).
As I wrote above in the thread: If Generic Keywords weren't allowed to be used across comic companies, I think they wouldn't be as abused. Cross-comic companies comic books are exceptionally rare, yet generic keywords have made them the default in most clix events (that I've attended).
I admit my own bias in this matter: If mutant was properly assigned to all the Marvel Mutants, I'd be able to play "Dark X-men", "Magneto's Acolytes", "Giant Sized X-Men", "Exiles", "Freedom Force" etc. etc. with comic-accurate lineups of the figures I actually want to use. It's 100% cornball that Rookie Fire, Ghost Widow, Winter Soldier and Iron Widow are a "Sir-Not-Appearing-together-in-a-comic accurate theme" team, and get multiple bonuses and an actual comic team gets nil.
And yes, most of my gallery here is devoted to interpreting teen keyword characters into Legionnaires. I'd gladly sacrifice my theme bonus from my teams with Spider-Girl/(my Light Lass) and Lightning Lad if it meant I didn't have to play against a min-max team that took advantage of generic theme team rules.

I am not saying don't have a opinion or a strong one. I like hearing and find you very knowledgeable and smart. However you implying that all of us who like generic kwords are idiots and cheese players(defacto cheaters) is insulting and incorrect. Your opinion is so respected is why it carries more wait and more insulting. That is all I am saying.
your reply should have been gudda your an idiot and ill play the game any damn way i want
But on a more serious note i think alot of people who do use generic keywords to make theme do it becuase that is the only option ... but i think it would be unecessary if more keywords where issued to charecters so that all there team ups / and team assosiations are covered

IMO "cheese" isn't cheating, "cheese" is unoriginal (and unhealthy), yet passed off as gourmet.
You know...like "cheese fries", "cheese popcorn", "cheese burgers", "cheese potatoes", etc.
Just like a cook will throw cheese on something to supposedly make it more tasty, all they are adding is something that 99% of other cooks will also use...and instead of tasty variety, most of what we get served is cheese.
That's how I feel when I see most clix teams: just some other combination of TK, PC, Perplex, Outwit. Generic keywords are a trivial way to deliver map choice, BFC cancel and more PC to otherwise bland teams.

In my early days on the realms I would have done that but I recieved to many warnings and learned a lesson.
I will admit my view is skewd because we have no venue and we play home games. I play with some good guys and sure we all cheese out sometimes but you aquire those big time figs and want to play them. I don't play against none stop cheese players all the time and that would be annoying.
Keywords
Keeping the current keyword rules, I'd like to see all characters with team symbols given the keyword of their team ability (if they don't already have it). Keywords could also be assigned via feats (ala Mercenary) for characters that don't feature them.
One feat could have 3-5 generic keywords; you are limited to using one keyword, and place a token next to the chosen keyword.
Minions (10)
[ ] Soldier
[ ] Spy
[ ] Warrior
Wildcard Team Abilities : Minions of Doom & Spider-Man
I'm in favor of assigning actual abilities.
Doom: Before a friendly team member would be the target of Outwit, roll 1d6. On a 1-4, this character cannot be the target of Outwit, but it cannot cancel powers or modify combat values on other characters.
Spider-Man: When two friendly team members are adjacent, the team member with the highest value can use Perplex.
I actually think that Generic keywords are okay Iam a DC man myself and I use the generic keyword Detective on occasion for when Batman teams up with The Spectre,The Question, and so on. I also think some keywords should be up to the venue when building theme teams. For example The JL Common Green Arrow was apart of The JLA morrison era of the team and he doesn't have The JLA keyword. What Iam basically saying is if you can prove a character was apart of a team that Wizkids didn't cover on the characters card that you should be able to use them on that specific team and have that character have that keyword by proxy. That's just my humble opinion.

Reason: Because of incorrect grammar.
