I'm going out for a game tonight. I generally can't ever win [except last week, when the Kingpin pulled a CRAZY upset out of his butt to beat Loki in a sealed game], but I still wanna at least feign strategic thinking.
Still, I'm gonna play a Golden Age squad, featuring Origin Wonder Woman, Origin Superman, FCBD Origin Batman [####, I just realized he's not legal... maybe the judge and player's'll let it slide, I can't go home and change him now] and Hypertime Flash. No cards, no nothin'! 298 points.
But what BFCs could I now print and play to hedge what meek and meager bets I have? I've never been strategically-minded enough to pick good ones.
If I understand correctly, there are NO retirement restrictions in Heroclix at this time. WizKids has done away with their retirement policies. Could be wrong, someone else verify?
He's a purple-ring [rather inexplicably] so that's why he'd be illegal. Although, yeah, I dunno what the current WK2.0 policy is.
EDIT Although upon inspecting the current literature, I can't find a reference to Purple ring figures being illegal. They're not mentioned in the FF Rulebook or the Player's guide. In fact, I can't find any mention of any of the previously-illegal figures. Does that mean there are no illegal figures? Can I use the Demo Batman and Spider-Man in tournaments for the next little while? Thunderdome!!!!

Officially, Retirement remains where it was with the last Tournament Rules packet until a new one is issued. However, since NECA!WK has not mandated event descriptions, Venues are free to run Unrestricted events with whatever House Rules they want.
Alternately (is that a word?), the Tournament Rules went belly-up the same time Topps!WK did, so anything goes.
Either way... talk to your Judge about what's allowed. House Rules can make the promo figures legal. (Section 5.3.2)
(I agree it was a stupid idea for Batman and the two Wolverines. Especially when WK later assigned keywords to them.)
So, going back to your question, you've got *lots* of strategic options.
Let's start with ones that hinder your opponent. Crosswinds and Poor Teamwork will cut into his mobility, while De-Feated will deal with many pesky Feat cards. Disruption will hurt his ability to use a Keyword PC (which you don't have).
Then there's the Feats which help you. Debris will get more objects in play for Superman while allowing Batman more spots to hide. Deep Shadows will also cover Batman, and won't cut into your own Range. Slightly more risky, but you might want Great Arena and Extraordinary Day for the extra damage potential... though it can blow up on you. Astral Plane is always handy for Flash to zip around unimpeded. Fimbulwinter might help you make the most of your small force, but look at your opponent's team carefully if you want to use it.
Krakoa the Living Island is another one to consider. Think ahead and you an keep your figures clear, while your opponent will have to adapt on the fly. This tends to rattle people enough to disrupt their whole game.
For big risks but big rewards, consider Disbanded and Alpha Strike. Batman won't be happy with them at all, but you can work that to your favor. Giving up Batman's Stealth is worth it if you get rid of a bunch of Thunderbolts. And while Alpha Strike paints a big target on Batman, you can easily make up the points by throwing everything you have at the right opposing figure.
You obviously know your local metagame and can make a more informed selection. If it were me walking in cold I'd run Poor Teamwork, Krakoa and De-Feated.

The Tournament Rules discuss the purple rings... Section 2.6 declares them illegal, but section 5.3.2 says that House Rules can change that.
I'll also add High gravity and armor wars to Raven projects list.
High gravity will make heavy object hindering stay on the board even when destroyed (helping out batman or Flash) as they keep hindering bonuses. Also, since you can't carry anyway, you can hurt the opposing flyers who have no damage reducers yet want to carry another figure.
Armor wars helps out flash, but may hurt WW and Superman. Flash can now hurt characters even with invulnerable and Batman can pierce on his first click as well.
Another card i'll throw out there: Skrull kill Krew. You don't have shape change nor super senses so this card is great for opponents who do have these abilities. They'd basically have to roll a six to not get attacked or hit and the breakaway bonus is nice as well.
Communication Breakdown
Before the beginning of the games's first turn, the player playing Communication Breakdown choose one combat value; that combat value cannot be modified during the game. When rolling a six-sided die for Leadership, subtract 1 from the result.
