Jeez i hope they redeem him, god i want him to get his lost powers back and mj...they should just let aunt may go...i just want the spidey from the other, black in back, disassembled back....
Bru's makin' it political. I can see some internet grumblings coming from this.
Yeah, I read it. While the issue has me feeling apprehensive, I'm willing to wait and see if there's a bigger picture that Bru has in mind before making a final call on it. I've enjoyed the series enough since I got into it to give him the benefit of the doubt. Plus, I enjoyed the backup Nomad feature, where young female 616 Cap counterpart teams up with young female 616 Spidey counterpart.
However, I'm also already missing the Robo-Arm of Doom.
More details on dark avengers, really curious on the sentry issue
It starts out with the first page being a reference to Exodus with Moses announcing the plague that would take all of the firstborn of the unmarked houses in Egypt. It shows black stuff in the sky that looks eerily similar to many past depictions of The Void.
It then cuts to the big conversation Norman and The Sentry had in a previous Dark Avengers issue; except, this time it reveals that Norman knows how to make the original serum that turned Bob into The Sentry, and he lets Bob have more of it.
Next, it cuts to three days ago, with the scene where Bob's wife thinks she's killed him. She then reveals that Bob didn't innocently discover the serum in the professor's lab. He was a meth addict and was just looking for more stuff to get high on. He finds the serum and drinks it. The cops break in and the power of Bob's transformation creates an explosion that destroys the laboratory. At the wreckage, Bob asks if the professor can make more because he's addicted to the serum now.
Bob's wife spends a page or two wondering exactly what kind of power The Sentry possesses and how he got that way. The Sentry comes back to life with the Void in control and almost kills her, but Bob stops the Void and then flies to the sun and tries to kill himself. It doesn't work. The Void tells Bob that he's not a superhero, and that he's God. The Void then persuades Bob to return to Earth and let him take control. The last page is a picture of the sky over the city with the black clouds in it again. The last line is the Void saying, "It's God's way."
All-in-all, it was a pretty good issue. I had some hope that perhaps The Sentry would have had some cool redeeming back story, but this just made me dislike him a little bit more. And we still have no real idea how far his powers extend or how they work.

I'd rather they had the Spidey of pre-clone saga fame.
DARK WOLVERINE #82 - Siege - The siege of Asgard has begun and Daken battles the norse gods.
First off I've got to say that I hate Daken. He is pretty much the epitomy of a schlock character and it pains me to have yet another junior anyone. That said, this book is really well written and has been since the focus shifted to Daken.
Brief synopsis: HAMMER + Dark Avengers start the Siege on Asgard. Lots of fighting, lots of beheadings. Mortals killing gods? I don't know about that but its happening. Somewhere during the chaos Norman and Daken have a little argument.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Daken suckers Norman and kills him while his back is turned.
It was already shown that he really was a junkie and the reason why there is a Void is because he also had mental issues/personality disorder. The main thing that Bendis got wrong(no surprise there) is the fact that Bob isn't special. The serum will work for ANYone/EVERYone! THAT's the big secret. That's why they needed to get rid of it if it could do that to a junkie! But now, with all of the Bendis-added biblical implications to Sentry's origins it looks like his S doesn't stand for Superman but, for the Spectre! If he's the plagues/wrath of God then that puts him in the same vein as Eclipso, Spectre and the Living Tribunal.
Superman: "One of these days, Lois....POW!!! Right to the Marvel Universe!"

I'm beginning to think, after the reveal recently with the Molecule man, that Bendis is going to make it turn out that Sentry is really the Beyonder or an aspect of him. That's the one part of the Illuminati tale that has yet to be be gone over again.

And I'm still waiting for the Illuminati to hit rock bottom, whip out the Infinity Gems, and FUBAR everything. These two things would complete their circle of ultimate screw ups.

Not to mention that no one is supposed to be able to use all the Gems, so says the Living Tribunal. But, it's already been done.
